The thread is a forum "dump" - belongs in Around The Campfire Forum discussions. :R I’m firmly in the camp it’s a sanitation issue and shouldn’t be done unless directed to do so by management. I’m sure all of us on this forum can dump our tanks without making a mess yet some dump stations look like complete disasters after a few hours of use. The thread was started to elicit opinions and have a debate. I’d say given the response to this, I’ve accomplished what I’ve set out to do.Dumping Tanks in an Empty Full Service SiteLast week I was staying in a full service site in a national park. It's not your 20" tires. I have the same ones. The payload issue is mostly due to the fact you have the 2.7. Ford used lighter axles on all 2.7's and a few of the 5.0s it seems. Your truck would have the 8.8" rear end. All the ones with the 3.5 and most of the 5.0s have the 9.75 rated at 3800. There is a cat scale at the east husky stop, or you can try the government on on highway 11 north of the city. The only way to know if you're going to be over or not is convince the dealer to let you tow it out there and weigh everything. (taking into account this empty trailer will be ligher than loaded to camp)Re: Ford 2.7 F150 & About to buy Sportsmen LE 260BHLESmall world. That's likely the reason. Mine's a loaded xlt with fx4. In any event take 13 percent of the trailer gvwr, and subtract that from your payload. What ever is left you can use in the truck. We pack almost everything in the trailer to keep numbers in check, but obviously you can't do that with people. Hope that helps.Re: Ford 2.7 F150 & About to buy Sportsmen LE 260BHLEThat payload of 1228 seems really low. I have a 2016 screw with the 3.5 eb, and the payload is around 1800. In ant event, it handles my 7000 lb gvwr fine.Re: Trailer brakes not working with 2016 F150 brake controllerThere is no relay to install on the 2015+ f150's. Assuming the truck is programmed properly, it's all in the computer. I suspect that if it is working manually with the lever, they are working with the pedal too. Just so smooth you can't feel it. Find an empty road or parking lot, and turn your gain down to zero. Get some speed and use the brakes. If you feel like you are being pushed with zero gain, then you know the brakes are working with the proper settings.Re: What socket size is it?It's a 3/4 inch bolt needing an 1 1/8 socket. More importantly, you'll need an impact or a big breaker bar and torque wrench to take it apart and put it back together.Re: Are trailer brakes adjustable? Old-Biscuit wrote: Find someone else to handle your repairs!!! Better yet learn to do the repairs yourself........cheaper. Yes trailer brakes are adjustable otherwise you would not be able to back them off in order to remove drums AND they would just be good only when first installed. There is a slot on backside of drum (rubber cap) that a brake spoon can be inserted thru to engage the star wheel on the 'adjuster' to loosen/tighten brake shoes. Jack tire up Tighten star wheel until tire just barely does not move Then loosen star wheel until tire turns freely with a slight drag of brake shoes Then you will need to readjust your brake controller. Be prepared though... the Dexters on mine have an arm you need to lift up when you loosen the shoes back (ideally you want a bit of drag). Had to insert the brake spoon in one hole, and lift that arm with a flat screwdriver in the other hole.Re: Almost home after ~2000 miles - towing with a 1/2 a tonI tow the exact same trailer as your with an f150, and am under all the weights. That particular trailer is well matched for a half ton. I just have a basic husky hitch with no sway control, and have never wished I had a different setup, pulling through some bad stuff. Sure a hd truck would improve some things, but if I was going to spend the money on a hd truck, I'd also spend the money on a heavier trailer with more amenities. Just my two cents.
