All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: To invert or not to invertI get all excited to do this then when I read the technical requirements I want to hold off. Thats what I think I'm going to do. Rather then rush into this I'm going to take some time over the winter and learn a little about the solar game and the inverters etc. I feel if I rush into this I'm going to end up with two of everything and or things that wont work for my application. I hope to find some USA made items for the kit but from what I seen on a simple search online there isn't much of this stuff made in the US. Doesn't surprise me. Will throw a shout out to Dewalt, I recently learned that they moved 80% of their manufacturing back to the US and working on the last 20%. Would explain how Dewalt lost the end isle space at Homedepot. Thanks again guy, I'm gonna do some reading and work on this in the spring. Kindest regards EdRe: To invert or not to invertOk, here I go. I'm ahead of schedule on the repairs to the camper so I have the time to revisit the solar/power inverter. Since I did away with the Dometic fridge Id like to get the solar running so we can run the fridge when on the road. Wanted so feed back on this unit from Amazon. WindyNation 200 Watt (2pcs 100 Watt) Solar Panel Kit + 1500W Power Inverter + 200ah 12 Volt AGM Deep Cycle Battery Bank for RV, Boat, Off-Grid Thanks! EdRe: Lettin it out K Mac wrote: Looks like you "licked your plumbing problem", nicely done.I'm also impressed with your "hide a key". First photo if you case you can't find them. Thanks K Mac, yea. I stuck the keys there the day I brought it home so I wouldn't loose them. LOL..I have so many keys on my ring now I couldn't add three more. I have this issue fixed but I still have the gray water leak to work on, I haven't even started on that other then to peek under the camper. As soon as weather breaks Im going to cut the bottom open hopefully this weekend and see whats what. EdRe: Near Disaster Propane Refuel ExperienceIm glad everyone is OK, we have had some bad experiences with our fork lift tanks. Its an exchange program and they are regulated by law to replace and or rebuild the valves and test them on a schedule and I couldn't begin to tell you how many we get that leak and are just inoperable. Thats dangerous stuff, the burn it creates is life changing and then there's the worse of the two and that's the explosion. Its a tough decision to make when you see it pissing out and you dont know if you should continue to mess with it or run for the hills and hope for the best. Glad your OK. EdRe: Gray water tankSorry about that. 91 Sunline 10'Gray water tankOk, the next issue. I seem to be having a leak from the gray water. Don't know yet if its the tank or a fitting. The path it has taken to expose it self is out the rear right where the pipe pops out of the rear of the camper and enters the shut off valve. A few questions, typically how big are these and whats the best way to access it to track the leak down? It leaks early on only after the water has been running on low from the kitchen sink for say maybe 2 minutes so that makes me think its toward the bottom of the tank or a fitting/pipe. From what I can tell from the inside of the camper it looks like the tank is in the center of the camper. See attached picture. Is the best way to access this from under the camper? There is a synthetic burlap type material and it looks like under that a thin sheet of foam insulate type board. Thanks for your help. Ed Re: Its gonna get cold soonA gentleman from the Truck camper FB page found the manual for me online. I was just working on it and trying different scenarios. One thing I find odd is If I go though the steps of lighting it. I have it running, heats blowing. I turn the therm down and I hear the burner shut down and it runs for about a min to cool down the heat exchanger. Once the fan shuts down if I turn the therm back up within a few seconds it fires right back up and works fine. I can do this over and over again. Now, if I turn the therm down, let the heater sit for a few minutes and then turn it back up the blower will come on but the burner wont light. I tried this a few times and finally caught a clicking noise coming from the heater and I'm assuming at that point is when it becomes non functioning. I dont know if its the gas valve shutting the pilot off or if the delay module inside is clicking and shutting the pilot down.Once again I dont really even know if the pilot is shutting down because there's no view point to see it. I read the pilot section of the manual and I dont totally understand it. It makes me wonder if I could of caused this issue when I rebuilt the side of the camper. I had the exhaust plate off and was fiddling with the extension they are referring to cutting down. I dont even understand what that does for it. Any idea?Re: Lettin it out Clarryhill wrote: Ed, Nice job. I've got one of those saws myself. Thank you, unfortunately getting the heater to work inst going so well. EdRe: Its gonna get cold soonThe camper is a 91 Sunline and the heater is a Hydro Flame HF 8012 with pilot. I messed with it a little today. I'm not 100% sure how to get it apart but I'm going to attack it in the morning. Looks like the entire gas valve, probes and therm come out in one shot. I'm going to try cleaning the probes. therm and pilot orifice first. If that doesn't fly Ill do the valve. I went to CW today, the woman was doing everything she could but she couldn't find me any information on the heater. The closest she could even come to the model was HF801211 Im not sure what the difference is but the drawing doesn't even show a thermocouple on it. I wouldn't be against shopping for a newer heater with electronic ignition but I want to match the foot print. I'm not sure if CW will be able to help me do that but there is a place called Tweetys that Ive used and evey time that I have spoken to someone there they seem to have an extensive back ground with the equipment and steer me in the right direction. Thanks guys EdIts gonna get cold soonOk, I went through the appliances and at first I thought everything was working correctly but with further testing I'm having an issue with the heater. Here is what is happening. I turn the therm to ON and put it to 90. The fan starts to run, I turn the gas valve to pilot and light it. Pilot lights(only know this due to small amount of heat from the exhaust, I cant find a sight point anywhere to view the pilot) I turn the valve to on and the burner comes on. Heater produces heat nicely. Now, I turn the therm down, burner shuts off and fan runs until heat exchanger cools down. I let it sit for a few minutes and turn the therm back up to call for heat, the blower fan comes back on but the burner doesn't come back on. I cant see the pilot to inspect it. I end up having to repeat the lighting procedure and then it will work fine until I turn it down and once again I loose the pilot. Now I was thinking the thermocouple but if that was bad I'm thinking I wouldn't be able to get the pilot to stay lit in the first place...correct? Any ideas here? Thank you very much ED
