I was in Maryville last year during the sub zero period in my Winnie. Everyone in the campground froze it seemed. First point, on the 36' 5er, do you have a truck that can handle a 16,000 pound rig? Your talking one ton diesel territory. You mention mid bunk, bunkhouse? second bed area? or did you mean something else? Loft? How many people do you need sleeping arrangements for? Mid bunk unit example Grand Design As to brands, The upper tier Keystones, (Alpine, Avalanche Montana), are popular and generally well regarded, other brands offering comparable units are Jayco, KZ, Forest River, Heartland, Northwood, and Grand Design. For starters, most mid tier units, and all upper end should have the enclosed underbelly, ducted heating, and heated tanks in some form. And in that size range, washer/drier prep is pretty standard. Solar? how much? Panels can be installed on most any unit, solar prep is often so small in the wiring that it becomes useless for installation of anything more than a battery tender. Res fridge, is an option on most rigs the size you are looking at. Well insulated? there is only so much insulation in a 2 inch thick wall, four slides tend to make a unit even harder to heat and cool. What you may want to consider is if the units you are looking at have the ability to be used with at least a couple of the slides in. That flexibility could help once in a while. Insulated double pane windows are available, at a cost. Cushions in the vent openings help too. Hope some of this helps, happy hunting.Re: Leaky Plumbing & Winter Living Prep QuestionsIs "Lake Park" the one in Florida? If so, is your electric cost included in lot rent? There are some small electric space heaters (400 to 800 watts) that will cover most heating needs in temps down to the 40's at night. I went through last winter in Knoxville Tn, We had that extreme cold cold spell where we, and everyone else froze up, but otherwise on days in the 40's and nights in the 30's the electric heaters took care of keeping the unit livable. example, small heater the ability to run more than one, keeping one in the bedroom and another in the living area. Freezing is not going to be a common issue, if your unit has an enclosed underside issues will be less, otherwise underpinning will help. A 40 year old furnace may prove difficult to scavenge parts for. Maybe ebay can help. furnacesQuestion for the Jeep expertsI left a cable for charging a phone across the steering column on my 07 Grand Cherokee. It ended up getting caught in the column and messed up the clockspring. New ones are no longer made, a salvage one was installed, but now my BAS ESP lights are on, code reads intermittent steering angle sensor, changed entire steering column, still getting the same message, and now the air bag is reading "implausable readings". First question, is there a separate steering angle sensor on this model? Or is it integral to the clockspring? second question, must I have a dealer clear the airbag code? I can change the airbag to the original, but the code shows as stored and will not clear with my scanner. Many thanks in advance for any assistance.Re: Tow vehicle tire adviceAnother option gaining popularity are Falken tires, Put a set on my Jeep GC last year, loved them, even put new Falken 191's on the Winnebago.Glacier is now fully openWe just spent the 10 days in Glacier, left Sunday to wander down to Yellowstone, and got a text this morning that Going to the sun road is open fully as of today. Happy wandering,,,,,Re: Generation X3500 watts , since I assume you have a 30 amp shore power plug. One of the cheaper ones that is also an inverter unit, and therefore quieter would be the Harbor freight. predator19.5 tiresAm looking at replacing my steer tires before this season. 2018 Michelins currently in place. Shop is offering 225/70R/19.5 installed prices of $370 each for Falken or $490 for Goodyears,,, any thoughts? other brands to consider.Have just lost Goof, my 13 year old Aussum Shepherd.I am currently in Knoxville Tn, for a couple of months for cancer treatment, So I cant just drop everything and take him back to the home he loved for burial. I am calling tomorrow about cremation, but is there anything else I should explore? Re: Gasket/molding issueThanks all, I just used some clear silicon I had aboard, a dot every foot or so and scotch tape for overnight.Gasket/molding issueOn my 2010 Winnebago, there is rubber molding that covers the joint between the upper and lower body panels. The rubber strip on the passenger side from the entry door to the back (about 12 feet) has now come out three or four times. I can push it right back in with just my thumb, but within a few days it starts coming back out. I dont want to replace it with new rubber because it is painted to match the body panel. My first thought is to put a drop of adhesive on the top joining surface every foot of so to stop it from dropping to the bottom of the track (there is maybe a 32nd of an inch of free play) which is how it is coming free. Or is there some rubber conditioner I should use to expand what I am guessing is shrinking rubber from it drying out over time?
