Is that standard or an option?Re: Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbieMy BIL has a 4Runner with V6 and the tow pkg., he towes my boat and his small camper with no issues. The Toyota is a body of frame and fairly rugged - you'd be hard pressed to compare it to other little SUVs on the market who are unibody grocery getters... "Grocery getters! I love it! I'm on my 2nd 4-Runner, the 1st a 2000 I got new because, as my Toyota guys say "they're bullet proof." Thanks for your response about towing capability. I have the tow package too. I'm relieved I can tow the heavier model with my 4 Runner. The major differences I like about the floor plan of 1885 vs 1685 is the walk around bed, no bunk and more storage.Re: Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbieLance has excellent warranty support. 2 year full warranty on structural. All of the appliances of course, have their own individual warranty support (microwave, range, fridge, etc) You get an authorization by Lance to go to a repair facility, which in most cases can take care of not having to drive 140 miles. Watch the 10 reasons why Lance... link in my signature box above! WoodGlue Just call me 'Ol Techless, it won't be the first time. When I click 'link' and copy paste nothing happens. Could I get baby step directions please?Re: Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbie"if it were me I'd go with the Lance, check out the links in Woodglue's signature under her post. IMHO the keystone looks great but isn't up to the construction standards Lance holds with their line. Good luck." WoodGlue posts good info on this and on Lance Owners Forum. WoodGlue posts are what started me taking a closer look at Lance. I have a 2013 4-Runner V6. Thanks for the comment on construction quality. The Lance 1685 dry wght is 3405 lbs, the 1885 is 3700 lbs. Both have slides. I haven't been able to see a "live" Lance yet. The Keystone Bullet 204RBS has no slide and dry wght is 3853! And when I looked at the under body, the protection was a plastic looking panel that was sagging somewhat. Other questions: In your experience, how well do they back up their product with warranty support? Nearest dealer for Lance is 140 miles from my home. I'd hate to have to travel that distance should I need repairs while it's under warranty. I have a wonderful private mechanic with close to 20 years of experience in TTs and RVs. He has maintained both the '03 Sunseeker I had and the '08 Winnebago I am selling. Does Lance reimburse individual businesses? I've e-mailed them with this question but would appreciate response from others who have first hand knowledge.Re: Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbie archie18 wrote: juanitahere wrote: I am still wayne_tw wrote: I doubt you will be satisfied with the towing performance with any travel trailer and your V-6 Toyota. Why is that? My first tow vehicle was 6 cyl Chevy Blazer pulling 3500lb popup. Even though it could tow the weight, it was too light to control it, luckily I never had to make an emergency stop. I traded for 6 cyl Trailblazer Ext which was quite a bit bigger than the Blazer and control improved but I had 2 transmission repairs in a couple of years. Eventually traded the Trailblazer for Ford F-150 ext cab truck and towing was much more stable and I felt a lot safer. Traded the popup for 4200lb TT and towing is still a breeze with the truck. I had an '89 Chevy Blazer I bought new. It turned out to be a POS even though I maintained the heck out of it and mileage was low when I dumped it. It got gone in 2000 for a 4 Runner. The new 4 Runner is heavier than both of those. Hopefully that adds to the stability.Re: Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbie amxpress wrote: You can get a 22' Airstream that has a GVWR of 4500#. Or a 16' with a GVWR of 3500#. They're pricey, but cool trailers and they tow great. There is an Airstream dealer across I-40 from the CW you visited in Colfax. I checked there a few weeks ago. Airstreams are way cool but way out of my price point.Re: Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbie GrumpyGator wrote: Before you purchase at CW, spend some time in the CW Sales forum. The blog links didn't make it into the message.Ultalite purchase advice needed by TT newbieI'm wanting to purchase a TT that can be pulled by my new V6 4Runner with 5000lbs towing capacity. I've surfed these forums for types of 3-4 season ultralite TTs and see two that seem to be especially recommended. Lance and Arctic Fox. The Lance 1685 seems to fit my needs well. Arctic Fox Nash is too heavy. The closest Lance dealer is 140 miles away, A&L RV Sales of Bristol/Murfreesboro, TN. Today I looked at a Bullet by Keystone, the 204RBS at Camping World of Colfax, NC. There is a substantial price difference between the two, which isn't necessarily a deal breaker because quality/durability is an important factor. Internet search brings up some customer service issues with Keystone on some other TTs. Looks like Lance is pretty clean. Advice from those who know about these 2 products/companies will be much appreciated. Other suggestions on TTs brands are welcome. Any info, good or bad, about A&L RV Sales from any who have done business with them would be great. Thanks!
