All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Vehicle Towing Assistance - Weight RatingsTwo folk have mentioned that the OP may be over on payload. Yet the OP hasn't given us the payload capacity of the truck. Until we get that, everything is speculation. Payload is typically the first capacity exceeded. proffittk: what is the payload capacity on the decal on the driver door jamb?Re: Anybody tried these solder and seal connectors? If you don't need waterproof connectors these work real well. If a permanent waterproof connection is needed I drip a little liquid tape in the ends. LinkRe: Portable Generator open ground road-runner wrote: The "open ground" diagnosis is not correct. The open ground diagnosis is correct. Straight from the folks who make the EMS: Open Ground Protection: If AC power has an open ground condition, the EMS will read an error code of E-2 and power will not be allowed to the RV.Re: Portable Generator open groundYep, you just need a bonding plug. I made my own ($4) to get rid of the E2 code on the EMS. Here's one already made if you don't want to try it yourself. Bonding plugRe: Towing requirementsSeveral folk here have mentioned PAYLOAD. This is the key rating. Forget towing capacity. You will almost always run out of PAYLOAD before you exceed the towing capacity. I'm using caps on purpose because the OP refuses to acknowledge what smarter people are stating. PAYLOAD!Re: F150 Ecoboost Stock Versus Tuned FeatherFam wrote: What does it cost to "custom" tune? My 6.2 tune was about $500. That included three tunes and the SCT tuner needed to install it. The SCT will do much more than just install the tune. 5 Star TuningRe: F150 Ecoboost Stock Versus TunedMike at 5 Star knows his stuff. I had his tow tune on my EB and it made a world of difference, and like stated earlier, it actually improved the durability of the motor according to the data that I extensively captured. I now run a 5 Star tune on the 6.2 gasser, but that tune mainly just changes the shift points.Re: Tow vehicle F150I also went from a 2010 F150 EB to a F250 6.2 gasser. EB was fine with the trailer in my sig, but the F250 is much more stable. The EB had LT tires, after market intercooler and 5 Star tune. Got about 9 mpg towing. The 6.2 gets 8.5 towing. Also it's not just the payload, the mass weight of the F250 makes towing more stable. Order a truck through a fleet manager to get exactly what you want. Remember, the fancier the truck, the less payload.Re: Tire monitorsAgreed x2. I stupidly broke the wire for the small antenna that screws onto the unit. I asked TST if they would repair it if I sent it in. They said sure. I sent it in and received a brand new unit with a free range extender within days. They even transferred my settings to the new unit.Re: Trailer not registered as connectedI just went through this with my F250. Turned out it was a bare brake wire INSIDE the trailer axle. I pulled the wires out and ran new ones in tygon tubing on the outside of the axles. No more issues.
