Guess I'll start switching over to all Gmail.E-book reader Kindle PaperwhiteDW just got her new Kindle Paperwhite. Up till now she has always read paper books, but she decided to get into the tech age. She is as happy as a clam and I may not see here much, until it's charging time, which could be anywhere up to 8 weeks at a shot. You might say that it is so easy to use that even a DW can do it. Here wifi connects great for book downloads. Check it outPaper shredder stopped shredding, who knewDW said here shredder stopped taking paper. As usual we never read the instructions, so I went to Google and found that they need to be "Oiled" periodically due to a build up of paper dust residue. I read that you can buy special oil, but I tried "3 in 1" oil and voila. After applying a quick, thin stream of oil on the shredder gears and running it for a minute or two it now shreds up a storm, not to mention it runs faster too. :) Warning, never stick your fingers in the gears while plugged in to power. My disclaimer!:SRe: In-Dash computer readoutsNow I know what they mean when they talk about "Driver-less Cars" Yuk Yuk.In-Dash computer readoutsEvery day I'm seeing more and more ads for fancy monitor screens that will keep you connected to the world outside the car. Drivers have enough trouble driving their cars without hitting things and now they add the ultimate distraction. Not to mention they now have a warning system that tells the driver that another car is next to them. What, have they eliminated the outside mirrors? Reaction times are very short, specially when they are tailgating and to add a screen that adds to the distraction is ludicrous. will these new distractions now get blamed for rear end collisions? I remember years ago when video screens first came out for cars, the law said they had to be out of the view of the driver. I guess that has changed now. Talking to a passenger while drive is distraction enough and adding these dashboard video (games) is insane. Too bad they don't teach driving any more, instead they teach how to operate your dash telephone, satellite navigation system and other junk. "In-dash Accident Creation System" is more like it.Re: Latest PITA - what to do?Weeks ago I had a similar problem albeit a variation on the same theme. I used a program called youtbe down loader to save some old songs which worked fine for a long time, BUT the last one I tried brought along a little problem which sounds like your's. I had not used Adawre for the longest time so I installed it, ran it and low and behold for tons of little bits of horror. What did I expect from a FREE down load site? Big Dummy! So I ran Adaware, along with my Malware bites, Ccleaner, etc and LOW, all gone. I also wiped any other traces of these types of recordings and any short videos just to make sure. You always get what you pay for, and pay for what you get for free.Re: Samsung, so you think you are safe?Stories and information like the ones you showed can definitely effect an advertisers bottom like if too much information were to be released regarding their inner workings. "Too much information may be dangerous." Better they stick to "Jersey Shore".Re: pop up prob. Maybe?Use "Ghostery" also to block all the "Tracking Cookies", where on some web sites may amount to 12 or 20. http://www.ghostery.com/about I have used this for some years now and the listed items keeps growing. with our constant worry about being tracked for one reason or another it is always a good idea to try and make yourself as invisible as possible. "THEY ARE WATCHING YOU". Not paranoid, just privacy minded.Re: VirusI don't see where anyone has mentioned how to avoid getting these Virus' like the emails everyone keeps opening when the have no idea who sent them. After the attack treatments are great, but preemptive care needs to be stressed too.Tracfone?DW has to go to Montana to help old, confused mom and though of getting a Disposable phone. I suggested she take our Verizon phone and I would get the Tracfone for the house till she gets back. Personally I hate phones, but an emergency might arise for me. Any thoughts?:)
