Regular oil and fuel filter changes at 6000 , always use Cat filters and oil.Re: Alternator replacement on Cat C7, Freightliner XC chassisI have the same unit, it is way more accessible than the other bedroom areas that have the bed in the slide. Be happy that is what you have. My alternator is a Leece Neville LN2824LC , it is an internal regulator. If you google that number you can get to the website for it and it has good pics and info. There is always a chance a p/o has changed it out as there are Delco units that fit also up you can start there. The suggestions of checking output elsewhere are a good idea before you start pulling things apart. BobRe: Why are Solar Panels mounted to bottom instead of sides?I have used the aluminum angle material on a number of installations. It makes them much easier to remove or make tilt brackets. 1 1/2" or 2" by 2 or 3" long. 8 pieces per panel, basically 2 pieces per mountRe: Why go solar?Exactly, we are in the same basic area and use oursolar all the time, microwave on a regular basis. I have 535 watts in various panels, 315 ah of agm batterries,a pwm controller, a trimetric monitor A 2000 watt mod sine wave inverter. We rarely use our generator and when we were south last winter at one stretch. We went 60 days, no generator no hook ups. We use blow dryer, tv, sat dish, computers. The people that are paying 5 to 10 K for a solar install are being seriosly beat up there are way more reasonable ways of doing it. Bob StirCrazy wrote: if you want to do what you stated in your original question then no solar wont work, but with a slight modification , for example forget the ac, use propane for heat fridge and cooking, and AC should keep up fine. I just bit the bullet and put 320 watts of solar on my new 5th and in September up north here in Canada where the solar day is short and the sun is low my solar topped off my batteries every day, which I found out only because the power at the campground for some reason didn't run my converter. I have 470 AH of batteries and in the am they would be down to 12.4 - 12.5V and when the sun went down they would be full again and that was with the furnace running 24/7 as it was getting down to 33 degrees at night and only 45ish during the day. Steve Re: Anyone deal with shop4seats.com?I purchased a sofa this spring, picked it out and ordered it at their plant. Picked it up and they even stuck it inside my coach for me, great service, good product. But, they are now offering credenzas, desks and tables for RV's. We emailed them and they said come and have a look. When we arrived the young lady (Ashley) had no clue what we were talking about. Finally they found a credenza in the shipping department. If I had ordered this online and had it shipped, when I opened it I would have been very upset. The cherry colour was almost bright red, the fit and finish were absolutely terrible. I expressed my displeasure with Ashley and I just got this dumb look. These furniture items are built elsewhere and shipped in but are no where close to the quality of their sofas and chaires that are assembled in house. They are not a small operation, they have 98,000 square feet in La Habra. BobRe: Too Much Hydraulic Fluid in the Jacks Reservoir?Best method I have found is using a small pump that screws onto the top of a oil bottle with a flexible plastic tube for delivery. It is designed for pumping oil into outboard motor legs but works great for a lot of other things. You can pump in or out. You can get them at most hardware & automotive stores. BobRe: When are you leaving and where are you goingLeaving Chase, BC on the 29th going to our Escapee's chapter lunch & meeting and will cross the border at Osoyoos, BC on Nov 1st, then it is Overton, NV or the Oregon coast if the weather looks o.k. Then to North Ranch & Q & Borrego springs & San Diego & then to Vegas for the construction equipment show & then work our way home for the end of March. Sheesh, now I'm tired. Good travels, BobRe: Fuel Filter Onan *HDKAK-JWhen you are taking the fittings off or tightening them on make sure you use two wrenches, one to hold the fitting in the filter and one to turn the line fitting nut. I just changed my 7.5 filter and I needed a 3/4 inch, a 5/8 inch for the line from the fuel pump, a 9/16 and a 7/16 for the line from the filter to the engine. And a 1/2 inch for the filter mount nut on the stud in the centre of the filter. And you will have fuel down your sleeve if you are laying under the coach, also use a small drip pan. For a small item I am not sure why they had to design it with 5 different size wrenches to change it. Happy changing, Bob
