Re: New and need Trailer options advice
Stay away from Keystone TT. We have a Cougar XLite 30FKV TT, purchased new and it has been just horrible. Quality is not one of their strong suits. We have had to replace both axels, the motor on the A/C unit, have had an issue with the refrigerator. Have replaced the fresh water pump. The supports that hold up the fresh, gray and black water tanks are held in place using large self-tapping sheet metal screws which they over tightened upon installation. This results in the heads of the screws breaking off and therefore the supports no longer supporting the tank/tanks. Fortunately I found this out before the tanks came crashing to the ground. Stabilizing jacks are held on with the same screws and result in same problem but instead of using 4 screws to hold each jack on as they should have they only used two for each jack. Now we are having spongy spots in the floor throughout the trailer due to the poor quality (cheap) materials used for the subfloor. I hope this helps. As far as the tow vehicle our trailer is 9,000lbs. loaded. We have a F150 Super Crew that is capable of towing 12,200lbs. Have towed this trailer through the mountains out west and it pulls like crazy, great motor (3.5 Ecoboost). Good luck. If you have questions feel free to contact me. I know this isn't what you want to hear but you need to go to the 3.5 Ecoboost motor. Have a 2011 F-150 Supercrew,6.5ft bed with the Max tow package. I pull a 34ft TT weighing 9000lbs. Box of truck is loaded with gear. Truck is rated to tow 11,200 lbs. Have towed my rig all over the country, mountains and all. Motor is exceptional, pulls like crazy. 90% of the 420 Ft/lbs.of torque are generated at 1750 rpm. New F-150 is rated at 12,200 lbs. towing capacity.492Views0likes0CommentsSpongy Floor
We have a 2013 Cougar XLite 30FKV TT. Purchased new in Nov.2012. Floor has numerous spongy spots throughout trailer. Talked to dealer about possible solutions, not much help. I have a 2011 F-150 Supercrew with a factory installed brake controller, came with the Max Tow package. When I picked up my travel trailer from the dealer a Tech took the truck and trailer for a ride and set the controller. Really don't know how to set it though. I recently purchased a Direct Slimline HD satellite dish with tripod to use while snowbirding around the country this winter. Had a Direct SD dish last winter and had great success setting it up in all but 2 locations, those being, Sequoa and Redwoods National parks. Guessing the trees where the problems there ... lol. I'm told that I'm going to need a meter in order to set the HD dish up. I'm looking for advice/input/suggestions regarding my plan to purchase a Wilson Electronics #460108 4G booster kit. We travel during the winter and occasionally encounter instances when I cannot get a cell phone or broadband signal. Verizon is my carrier. I have talked to several other snowbirds and they have Wilson equipment to eleviate this problem. Would love feedback from others who have had success resolving signal issues while traveling.
