I have been unable to find any information on PERMANENTLY IMPORTING an RV into Mexico. I dont need info on a TIP as the current RV has a 10 year permit right now. Since it is rated for 11000 lbs gvw (Sprinter class B RV) but has a German vin code I assume it can not be imported. This will be sold and a Ford/Chev chassied rv purchased. As these will all be over the 8500 GVW limit how can one be imported into Mexico? There must be some process as we have seen a few MX plated RV's in our travels. Any of the Auto importers I've contacted have not had a clue as to how to do this. ThanxRe: One month in MexicoIf you want to swim in the ocean in Febuary and March You'll have to come as far south as Perula. Ocean temp in March averages 79 - 80 degrees. Air temp normally mid 80's. Space is usually available except or Christmas and Easter breaks when it seems most of Guadalajara shows up at the beach. Otherwise 10 KM of empty sandy beach with no high rises and a fishing village of 1500. No gas, no ATM, no Bank, and a platoon of Mexican Marines at the road junction. If you're up watching the sun rise you can see them running the beach in full gear for morning calastetics.Re: Change in amount from ATMs ??All of the withdrawals were at Bank ATMs except for PV which was at Costco. For those who prefer to pay with cash this could be a problem. I recall a post awhile back where someone got charged an extra $800 or so by an unscrupulous Pemex in Los Mochis. Of course when I stopped in Los Mochis for fuel the pump person tried the 500/50 peso switch trick. I guess I'll just have to leave Mexico with enough Pesos to get back down to Perula. At least with the Sprinter its not $2000 pesos a fill up like the class A we had.Change in amount from ATMs ??Last few years or so we have been able to pull as much as $40000 MXP per day per card from ATMs on the west coast of Mexico. This year on our way down the coast we were only able to get $5000 MXP per day per card from the ATMs in San Carlos, Mazatlan, PV, and Melaque. We asked our banker at Intercam about this and his answer was that all ATMs were supposed to be limited to $5000 MXP per day. This is due to changes in Mexican banking laws. Fortunately we have completed our construction project and no longer require the high peso withdrawals to make payroll and purchase construction materials. Has anyone else run into this ATM limitation?Road Report Nogales to PerulaArrived yesterday 10/1 at our house in Punta Perula, Jalisco, MX. We made the trip in our 2003 chassis Class B Sprinter Van. This info is for MX 15 toll road Nogales to Tepic and HWY 200 Tepic to Punta Perula. The roadways into through and out of most of the cities are typically poor to fair condition with lot of pot holes, tope's etc. Left from De Anza RV park in Amado AZ and crossed at Nogales Mariposa crossing. No changes noted in the crossing except, on the US side there appears to be almost finished construction for a US departure checkpoint with cameras and booths. I guess we'll have to tell them why we would ever want to go to Mexico..... KM21 no changes, from the time we crossed the US side until we were leaving KM2 one hour. Road to Santa Anna is good. First 10 KM or so after Santa Anna a little rough. After the rough spot the road is good until the tool booth just east of the turn for Guymas/San Calos. From the tool booth to Cuiad Obregon the road is under construction all of the way into Obregon. Lots of single lane one direction with marked 40 KM speed limits. You can make good time if you get behind an express bus... Obrigon to Navora is smooth 110Km/h four lane concrete. Navora to the Sinola border is rough but you can make time in the left lane. Sinola south to Mazatlan good roads. Mazatlan bypass is open and if you stay in a park at the north end of Mazatlan and jump on the bypass you can save an hour or two slogging through Mazatlan proper. Mazatlan to Perula two lane road in good condition with enough shoulders to make three lanes for passing into on coming traffic as both lane will move to the shoulder to allow the pass. They WILL NOT slow down however. HWY 200 from Tepic still sucks, went down hill behind a gas tanker for 2 hours. Highway 200 south of El Tuito lots construction as the road is being widened to three lanes all of the way to Los Morles. Hope this helps with everyone's planning for this years adventures to Mexico.Re: Bridge out between Melaque & PVA quick update. I came north through the detour yesterday abut 1200 headed back to Perula. They had just finished putting down a seal coat layer on the road. They were setting up to put down another layer. Should be a minor inconvenience from now until the bridge is replaced.Re: Bridge out between Melaque & PVThis outage ocured about 1 KM south of Emilio Zapata at about KM 38 going towards Melaque on Hwy 200. Went over the bridge about 15 minutes before it failed in a torrential rain storm. The road was reopened within 24 hours. Typical down it the creek bed and back up detour. Went through it on Thursday both ways with my Sprinter Van. Class A should have no problems unless it is raining as the detour is not paved yet. This is similar to the washout at the turn off to Boca de Iguanas last year. I'm willing to bet it is completely repaired before April 1 st.Re: West coast SCUBA?I can recommend diving in and around Chamela bay,(Perula). West coast of MX about 100 miles south of PV The diving is much better in the summer but is good year round. There is a dive shop in the town and the owner is well versed in all of the dive sites in the local area. He rents gear to certified divers and will provide guided dives or arrange for transportation do dive sites if you need assistance. Google Perula and check out some of the photos of the area. I'd recommend bringing Masks ,Fins, Snorkels, and rash guards and leaving the tanks etc. at home. The coldest water temp last winter was a freezing 78 degrees f.Re: Where are you heading this year? You're welcome to stop by and say hello or share a cervesa or two when you get to Punta Perula. We are finishing up our house we started last year. We are located on Calle Cancun on the ocean side of the main road into Perula. Hope to be there by 1 November or so. Should have the Sat Internet up if you need connectivity for your business. Tom and Marianne.Re: Registering a Jalisco plated car in JaliscoAccording to the MX forums I've been reading in the last couple of years,if your vehicle and residence is in the state of Jalisco you can own and operate a vehicle on a Tourist visa. Each state is different as to the "residence status" requirements for ownership/operation. I got this info mostly from forums in the PV and Lake Chapalla areas. This spring I was going to buy a car in Perula but had to spend the $$ on construction issues at the Casita. The vehicle was owned by a Canadian couple who had used it for several years after purchasing it in Melaque. They always had just a tourist visa for their winter visits. As always what one hears or sees in the internet is subject to"local" interpretation.... If anyone can find the Official Rules for Jalisco it might clear this question up.
