FYI: i was told the dryer sheets have to be original Bounce. maybe this would explain why some have success and others dont???Re: Black tank best practicesright or wrong....we leave the black closed and let the grey flow. with that said we rarely use the toilet in the camper, there is a bath house about 50 yards from our trailer so its really as easy to just walk over there if we are outside.Re: Rodent Reminder esox07 wrote: and I want to know what happened to the hampster. as sick as it may be.... me too.Re: Stupid Question About Water Pump snowdance wrote: If your water tank was empty.. And you turned the pump and it ran dry the whole time.. It still will not hurt the pump. Really? I have never looked to see what kind of pump they are, but most pumps need the water to lubricate the impeller or at the very least to cool them. a little run dry wouldnt likely hurt them, but most water pumps are damaged by extended dry run. EDIT: yep shurflo says in several places on their site that the pumps can run dry without damage. thanks for pointing that out.Re: Tank Leak HELP!i could be wrong here, but any leakage from the black tank cant be good. if the top isnt sealed you will have sewer gas leaking there instead of venting through the vent. i just got started this year with our first camper and discovered a similar problem when i tested out tanks. our grey water tank had a couple holes in the side of it. ( note to self...dont buy a camper in the dead of winter when you cant thoroughly inspect it for yourself....) anyway, i found a simple to use product that allowed me to patch the holes. way easier than replacing the tank and much cheaper. the product is called Plasti-mend, worked great! if you have even basic home repair skills this should be easy for you.Re: Stupid Question About Water Pumpas the previous poster pointed out, that pump being powered up wouldnt burn it out and your campground source pressure was likely high enough and of sufficient volume to prevent your pump from running at all when you turned your faucets on. if you havent tested the pump by running water without being connected to the campground source that should be your first thing to check ( make sure you have water in your fresh water tank first). best of luck.Re: Towing with half a tankin the fire service we have the full/empty rule for all non baffled water tender trucks (1000 gallons +) but the smaller tanked trucks dont get the same effect. IMO the tank size and dimensions as well as location on the vehicle ( above/below the center of gravity, all play into the safety factor of traveling with a partial load of water on. our tank is approx 12" tall 18" wide and 3' long ( 35 gallons IIRC), i wouldnt worry at all about the sloshing effect from that tank being half full. the additional weight on the tongue of my TV is more of a concern for me. but the most important thing IMO is what you feel, if you arent comfortable, dont do it. best of luck.Roof Repair QuestionFirst off, thanks to all of you, I have been lurking here for about a year and have gained so much from this forum. ( isnt the net a wonderful place? ) My question is this, I recently found a leak in our TT that seems to be originating from the front corner of our roof. ( where the cap, sidewall and roof form a corner.) it appears that this has been a growing issue as when I went up there I noticed that the corner of the plywood ( about a 6x6 triangular area) is spongy. My question is can I dig out the existing silicone, dicor, and other caulk substances, replace with new dicor, clean the surfaces and then lay eternabond over this, or do i need to peel the roof, replace the bad wood and start over with a new roof. its on a 95 electra, so the cost of repairs vs the cost of the unit are a potential hangup, but any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Jim
