The potential loss of value seems minimal.Re: Strange Ram 2500 VibrationI have noticed the same thing with my 2014 6.4. I believe it’s the fan clutch.Re: Gas engineI pull 9200lbs with a 6.4 Ram. Empty weight means nothing. Loaded you will be over 13000lbs. You really need a 1ton diesel. In my opinion, too much weight to be happy with the GM 6.0. Maybe wait for the new GM 6.6 or Ford 7.3 but I would just get the diesel.Re: How well does the RAM 2500 6.4 Hemi tow?I have a 2014 2500 6.4 3.73. Pull a 5er at about 9000 lbs, usually 5-6 times per year. Last trip of the 2018 season we went to Mueller State Park near Divide Co. elevation 9500ft. Did it get us there and back? Yes it did and averaged 8.9 MPG hand calculated which I was very happy with, especially with the wind we encountered. Would a diesel have done it better? Absolutely. A lot better. I have owned several HD gas trucks and a couple of HD diesel trucks. The last diesel was a 13 F250 6.7. Really liked the truck and the power but at the time we didn't have anything to tow. Life as a daily driver grocery getter was causing some emission related issues. The 6.4 Ram is a better daily driver especially with my 6 mile drive to work and faster warm up in the cold temps that we have in the Texas panhandle. We also have a lifetime Mopar warranty on the Ram which is not available on the diesel. A couple of the others were 2003 5.9 cummins SO 235 HP and a 2000 Ford V10. The 6.4 Hemi tows better than both of those. Since you are only planning on towing 8000lbs the 6.4 will get it done. I would definitely get the 4.10 gears no matter what weight you are towing. In my opinion, Ram shouldn't offer the 3.73 in the gas truck. Maybe with the new 8 speed they would be ok. If there is any chance you may decide on a larger trailer in the future, I would just get the cummins and be done with it. This is just my opinion based on personal experience. I'm sure others may disagree.Re: 5th wheel tailgateI have the Husky tailgate. My factory tailgate was damaged in an incident unrelated to the fifth wheel. I would not have purchased it if the original was not damaged. The factory tailgate is obviously much heavier and stronger although the husky is probably strongest and the best quality in its price range. It is light but seems fairly stout. The husky tailgate does make hitching and unhitching much easier. I can now place things in the back of the bed without lowering the tailgate. Actually, I have had the tailgate on the truck for about a year and have not lowered it once. I am no longer hauling dirt bikes and have a work truck that I can use for moving things around my property so it works fine for me. It also does seem to cut down on turbulence in the bed when towing the fifth wheel. If full timing and dedicated tow vehicle I feel it is a great option. If not I would keep the factory tailgate.Re: Has anyone switched to a smaller tire? The difference in tire size would theoretically be as effective as re-gearing to a 3.92 ratio according to gear ratio/tire size calculators. I don't think I would spend the money to re-gear. Tire size change wouldn't cost anything extra since I am planning on new tires anyway. Truck sits pretty tall so being 3/4" lower wouldn't hurt my feelings at all. Good point on load capacities. Will have to look at that. Not sure if I would appreciate the look of the smaller tire though. I do appreciate everyone's input. Has anyone actually made this change?Has anyone switched to a smaller tire?I have a 2014 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi 3.73 pulling a 30' fifth wheel which weighs approx. 9000lbs. loaded. Stock tire size is 275/70r18. Truck has close to 17k miles and the original Firestone tires need to go. Has anyone switched to a smaller tire? Considering 265/65R18 which would be almost 1.5" smaller diameter. I realize I would have to get a reprogram for speedo but thought it may help towing performance a bit. Overall happy with Hemi but will be doing more towing in the mountains. Any thoughts or suggestions?Re: Tire Talk...I have used both the Hankook ATM and the Cooper AT3. You really can't go wrong with either. If I remember correctly, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, the Hankook is made in Korea and Cooper USA made. Like the looks of the Cooper but would give a slight advantage to the Hankook in the ice and deep snow. I would say buy what is cheaper.Re: Help with a model num for a spark p#I am an AC Delco Supplier. 41-110 is the correct Iridium plug for that application. 41-962 is the Platinum version.
