All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Toyota Tundra and small 5'verYou are asking the right question. I have been pulling a ultralight 5th wheel with my Tundra for quite a while now. Plenty of power pulling and stopping. Problem is the the suspension. While the truck has plenty of muscle, it's still a 1/2 ton pickup. I am about 400 lbs over cargo capacity. Still under GAWR but I am pushing it. I love the truck, but if I had it to do over again I think I would have gone 3/4 ton. Some say a 3/4 ton rides rough empty but so does my Tundra. E rated tires have replaced the squishy P rated stock tires and that helped with the "Loaded" ride but she's pretty rough empty. So, can you do it? Probably if you find the right trailer. Should you do it? That's for you to decide. Now you have to decide what brand of 3/4 ton. :) Have a great weekend! BillRe: First Tim 5r dissapointedI agree with the idea that you may be tail heavy. My trailer has the rear kitchen and pantry. We have noticed that when SWMBO loads the kitchen up heavy that we get the same "porpoising" that you describe. My solution has been to fill the fresh water tank up to the top. I used to only keep maybe 10 gallons of fresh water for emergency use. This has helped a lot. I am also looking at better rear shocks on the truck. I have air bags but that seems to give the truck axle a nice rubber ball to bounce on! :) BillRe: hauling can am spyderWithout pictures it makes it hard to fully understand the issues. Could the Spyder have a sensor that kills the engine if the bike tilts beyond a set degree?? (Just a wild guess). Are you telling us that the Spider "High Centers" when you try to load it? I had a friend that had a show bike that was real low. We had to get him half way up the ramp and then three of us lift the gate a few inches so that he wouldn't drag bottom as he entered the trailer. I like the Spyders. Good for old guys with bad knees like me but my riding days are over. Don't mind the Harley guys here. Just remember Harley guys.... "You can buy better but you can't pay more!" :p (Just kidding of course) BillRe: Landing Gear Pin ReplacementsAll Metal. Got it. Thanks for the responses! BillLanding Gear Pin ReplacementsGood afternoon everyone! I would like to replace the landing gear pins on my fiver with the spring loaded type. Seems there are several brands to choose from. Anyone have a preference? Many thanks in advance, BillRe: Black tank flush 2009 Big CountryThere is an anti siphon valve that might be leaking. Mine was under the bathroom sink behind a removable panel. If the water pressure is too high, they can leak around the fitting. Good luck. BillRe: Toyota Tundra Gas Mileage--what do you get???2007 Tundra Crew Cab Highway 16.8 mpg City 13.5 mpg Towing 9-10 mpg (Mix of flat land and mountains) 5th wheel is 7,800 wet Great truck! Crappy gas mileage! BillRe: What is this part and what does it do? chipper wrote: HappyKayakers wrote: I have a fitting like that for my black tank flush system. Thats what it is. A vacuum breaker to the black water tank flusher. X2 BillRe: Toyota/Cummins.........maybeThat's all good but if they don't increase the trucks towing and cargo capacity I would have no use for it. Now a Tundra 3/4 ton with the cummins?.......that would get my attention. (I'm not holding my breath) :R BillRe: Best stabilizer help needed JohnG3 wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTLU0725CSU These are my favorite. Winfield RV Products.
