Read lots of good things about him on the Tiffin network.Re: Looking for opinions from diesel experts! The Navistar in either the 6.0 or 6.4 version were terrible engines for anyone that had a problem with them, kind of like the old GM before Isuzu. Lots of places to find out about the problems of the engines if you look, remember all people have opinions. Issues with the DEF is it is temperature sensitive and deteriorates in temps above 85 degrees. Cummins attempt without DEF cost them mileage per gallon which has increased with the use of DEF in the newer engines.Re: Fridge on or off during storage? We leave ours plugged in and power on 24/7. My reasoning is the cost of replacement. Like most things they last longer when being used and the monthly cost for about 10 years is less that the cost of replacement.Re: 99 Allegro DPYou might want to check on the Tiffin network (tiffinrvnetwork.com) as well for help with your question.Re: Cummins 5.9L fuel pump problemsThe block 53 issue may have been in the 12 valve years but the fuel pump issues began with the introduction of the 24 valve engines introduced in January 1998, early 1997 models were the 12 valve version. The 24 valve was to meet next EPA mandates introduced for the diesel engines. These mandates were the cause of the 7.3 Power Stokes demise.Re: Cummins 5.9L fuel pump problemsThe issue with the Dodge 3500, 5.9 began with the 24 valve engines. Problem being the pump that feeds to primary injection pump. These lift pumps lose the pressure to the primary causing problems (galling) and then failure. Repair is quite expensive as is all work on our diesel engines. The FASS pump is probably the best recommendation to solve the fuel feed problem these engines experience. The earlier 5.9 had a few issues like the KDP (Killer Dowel Pin) and there was the # 50 block that had an issue cracking in one place. I am not sure if the MH's have the same issues. We are in the early stages of MH Fever that will be treated within the next few months.Re: Given choice gas or diesel powered fill time coachThe "Safety Factor" of the diesel engine exhaust brake should make this a no brainer issue for the MH. Talk to someone who has traveled the mountains in a gasser and needed to use the "Run Off Lane". Ask those people what they prefer and it will almost unanimously be the diesel.
