I had a guy call me giving me a story about his home burning down in the Southern California fires. He had no where to go. Wanted me to help him out with a low price he offered, too low I said. He then started bumping his offer up.He wanted to come and see it. When he was 2 hours late, I called him and got a weird response from him. In one sentence he said he ran into heavy traffic, then said he did not have the money nor could he afford the gas(50 miles away). I knew he was nuts and said o.k. and hung up. He did not have a home that burned. I was able to sell to a very honest gentleman from out of state. Only took one week on Craigslist to sell. Les Schwab said I needed new ball joints on my 2000 Ford 3/4 ton truck after clamping a dial indicator on my frame using vice grips to get measurements. Still on warranty so I went to a very reliable ford truck dealer and was told that I did NOT need new ball joints. Joints were fine. Les Schwab ended up reimbursing me for the charges I paid at the Ford shop. Do you think I want to go back there? Dealers can charge more because of other things they do when selling, such as getting you financing that a private seller can not. That is a biggy for most buyers. NADA is as they say, A GUIDE. Dealers use them to determine how much to offer when one is being traded in. Not used when a dealer is selling. Financing might be based on NADA.
