Kayaks will spread the wait out very well and the bikes are not that heavy you're ratchet handle that without any problem.Re: a frame popupIf you are anywhere near the tow capacity of your TV,you should go for the weight distribution rig. 2700lbs is not particularly big. I had atv and trailer within 800lbs of max and the WD worked perfectly. Nice flat ride.Re: Hail Damage Repair - 97 StarcraftMarineTex. Comes in white (for fiberglass hull repairs) but is a first class epoxy compound that will not yellow. Used it on my aluminum Jayco top with great success.Re: New PopUpWelcome. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. We love the connection to the outdoors you get with the PUP An awning and good sturdy folding table are things you will really appreciate. The screen house is a PITA to put up but if you stay in one place for more than a few days or if you are in a place with LOTS of mosquitoes it is then worth the effort. It is a great help in the rain as it keeps a larger area dry. As you camp you will make a list a list of things you wish you had on board. Don't rush out to buy everything suggested as every camper has different tolerances. Less is best. A lot will depend on whether you are a wilderness camper or RV park camper and how long you are out. One thing for sure you will have plenty of good advice from this forum. They are GREAT.Re: Installing New Kitchen sink faucetJust be aware that depending on the stow-away position you may not be able to install a faucet of a different size and shape from the old one.Re: Wheel Bearings on a 7 year old pop-up - Shuld I?Do pull and re-pack the bearings. You have never seen them so you cannot risk depending on leaving them un-inspected (Cost / benefit ratio). It is easy if a little messy. YouTube will have tons of good lessons. Do NOT oil. They are made to run with high viscosity high temp bearing grease. Oil will change those specs and not last in the bearings but will get runny and leak off. Go with manufacturer instructions over blogs - even RV.net.Re: Long distance trip - need your advice pleaseWe have been back and forth across the US and Canada many times and our opinions on this question have changed with time. Life is a journey, not the destination. Travel should be too. We like no more than 6 hours travel. Those areas we have pushed to get through have in time revealed many hidden and lesser known gems. Now, that said, if you have limited time that could change. After all if you are traveling for 8 hours a day you are likely going to be too wiped out to do much recreating before you are back in the vehicle again. The important thing is that you are hitting the road. Have a great adventure.Re: Need to have two holes in my roof repaired - Jayco 1206It is frustratingly easy to punch a hole in that roof. It is aluMinum foil OVER a foam core. I got a good repair result with MarineTex. It is a epoxy boat repair material. It comes in white so a reasonably good looking repair can be made. Holds up and is waterproof. Not cheap But worth it.Re: Can I winterize my Pop-up camper myself?I agree with Skyline Nomad about not putting antifreeze in the tank. It is near impossible to get it all out when you open up again and even if non-toxic you will not be happy with the pervasive smell in your drinking water. Empty the tank fully. Push antifreeze into the pump and lines between the pump and faucets including any shower faucets OR push air through with a compressor and leave valves open to dry. Its not as hard as it might sound. Other hints: moisture from condensation is an issue in a unit closed up for long periods. Close up following the driest weather you can. Empty the unit especially of anything cloth. Open fridge door or take it off. Spray down with Lysol disinfectant liberally on all interior canvas and cushions. (Don't worry the smell will dissipate over the winter). Remove batteries including those in the smoke detector and leave off the cover so you remember to put them back in. Stack in a half dozen of those chem-dry containers. Add a few mouse traps or bait. Put these last two items in an accessible place so that you can check them from time to time. When I open up in the Spring the unit is clean, free of vermin poop or damage and mold free. Ready for camping fun.Re: AWNING PROBLEMI just made that repair myself. Fortunately the "rip" was just an un-threading and I did not need new parts. After checking with several boat upholstery repair places all were too busy to make the repair in a timely manner. I ended up stitching it back by hand with a heavy needle, pliers and 100 lb test fishing line. I started out with dental floss but found it not substantial enough. Tedious and time consuming, it took about 4 total hours - but it worked.
