I can tell you from experience that the "fix" for this recall in inadequate to say the least. Got my smartarm fix taken care of then headed out on the road 2 days later. Pulled into the sight on a sunny day. Used the outside controller to put out the awning. Dampness, not rain, set in that night and the next morning, Lo and Behold, the Smartarm had no power to it. Inside controllers worked just fine. Back to the dealer 2 weeks later and was told the module had failed due to moisture. So, so much for the recall fix. Maybe a new type of switch is in development. OK, Here's my issue. I have 2018 KZ Sportsmen LE 291RKLE (upgraded tow vehicle since my last post, Thank you). It didn't come with a television however, there is an entertainment area where one is to go. I want to mount the TV in this area due to the fact that the right-sized TV with the "feet" attached will not fit (depth). I've tried 3 different stud finders and unable to locate any studs in the area, which is directly behind the shower. The mount I have comes with 2 1/2" lag bolts to mount it. Absent the location of studs, I will not try to use these for fear that I will go through to the shower. I called the dealer and was told that they believe there is a 3/4" backer behind the TV area for mounting and they are unsure of stud location. I have yet to receive a response to the same inquiry from the manufacturer. Does anyone here have a similar set-up and, if so, what type of mount did you use? The TV is very light and I'm contemplating using 1" large diameter screws with washers to get the job done. I have no intention of transporting with the TV mounted so road conditions shouldn't be an issue. Any thoughts? Thanks, Rick878Views0likes7CommentsRe: Do I need an anti-sway setup too?
Not a "hit-and-run" guys. Just considering the responses I've gotten. I can take the news either way and thanks for the responses. I've been on a few short trips already and I do know what I'm dealing with. Not sure if the "hit-and-run" comment was meant to be an insult on my intelligence but, I've just decided to take everything to the local CAT scales, I do pack lightly and am traveling within my limits however, I guess I am in the market for a bigger tow vehicle before setting off on any serious trips. Hi, I'm an extreme newbie here and feel like this has got to be a stupid question but here goes; I just bought a KZ Sportsman 291RKLE which is about 33' and has a loaded weight of about 8000 lbs. I'm pulling with a 1500 Silverado (well within its tow capacity) with a Blue Ox Sway Pro wd setup installed at the dealership. My question is do I still need an anti-sway system too? The dealer told me the swaypro should be all I need but I don't want to head off on a long trip and end up being some kind of statistic or a photo of what NOT to do.
