Pretty warm so you definitely should have heard the fan kick in. I did on several of the passes coming up from Bend. If you're not hearing that fan, which on every F53 I've been around is very noticeable, then you want to get in asap to have it checked out. Not all RV dealerships will service the chassis of a Ford but they can direct you to a shop that can. My gauge never really budged on the way home, even when the fan kicked in. But like you I slowed down and took it easy, most the passes on Hwy 97 had passing lanes so I just kicked back and went along with it. Do you have an external temp device or does you're unit show actual temps not just the gauge? Yes, I use a scan gauge.Re: 2008 f53 class A v10 getting hot. You? Actually, no, now that you mention it I don't recall hearing the fan engage.Re: 2008 f53 class A v10 getting hot. You?Sorry, meant 242f engine temp.2008 f53 class A v10 getting hot. You?I have a 2008 FR Georgetown. 35' and 22k chairs. We're towing 4k of road. Yesterday, while traveling west towards Boise the engine temp spiked to over 242f. Outside temp was 95-100f. We were traveling 65mph. I have only seen this happen once before with similar ~100f temps. The test of the trip we did lots of mountains but never saw these extreme engine temps. When we slowed to 55 mph the temp was reasonable. If the outside temp is below 95f then we see no crazy engine temperature spikes. Typical operating temperature is about 207f. What have any of your seen with engine temps during hot weather? What about those of your with even bigger f53? Overall, I'm very happy with the Ford v10.AAA RV Premier said they won't tow dolly...Disappointed in AAA. Last night while driving down Cabbage Hill, i84, Oregon near Pendleton, we had one of the dolly tires blow out. We have AAA Premier RV. Anyway, AAA says they won't tow the dolly to a tire shop. They say it's not covered. So, maybe everyone knows this but it was a surprise to me. Any recommendations on a similar service to AAA that doesn't have all the unreasonable details?Upgrade exterior hatch barrel lock and latchHello friends. I have an 08 Georgetown class A. It has been great but there are some cheepo components I'd like to upgrade. In particular, the cheap barrel latches on the outside hatches. Has anyone come across some product or method to upgrade to a more modern style latch? Maybe a paddle latch or something other than the barrel latches and locks that came with it?Re: If I have a day or two to visit Yellowstone..,.OP here with an update. Turns out we have a couple more family members going with us. More folks in the RV than can fit in the toad so it looks like the RV will be our toad. ?? I appreciate all the advice so far!If I have a day or two to visit Yellowstone..,.Hello friends. We're from Portland but are in New Mexico with my family (wife & 11 yo kids). We have a 35' class A towing a car. Our schedule is a bit unpredictable but at the end of July we'll be heading back to Portland. We typically drive through Moab, SLC, Boise to get home. We are considering a drive through Yellowstone. My questions: Is it even possible to visit Yellowstone on short notice? Is it too crowded to bother? Zero chance of finding a place to park/camp w/ a 35' Class A? What would you see if you only had an afternoon or a day or two to visit? Is it possible to just drive through and see a few things and then camp outside the park? We did a similar sort of excursion last summer at the Grand Canyon. No reservations. Found a RV campground in Williams and then drove into the Grand Canyon for the day. That worked fine for us, but I am familiar with that area. I realize more time is required to fully appreciate a location like Yellowstone, but schedules sometimes don't afford us many days to play. Thanks all!Only four shows/movies featuring RVs?Are there really only four shows/movies featuring RVs? The only ones I could think of: Lucille Ball in the Long Long Trailer Robin Williams in RV We're the Millers Breaking Bad Re: Suggestions to upgrade windshield fan? These look nice. Do you know if they have an on off switch on the fan? wolfe10 wrote: Hella: https://www.hodgesmarine.com/Hella-Marine-2-Speed-Turbo-Fan-12v-Black-p/hel003361002.htm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjN338I-92gIVh1uGCh125AOnEAQYASABEgL6NPD_BwE&ppcstrkid=1565162769&click=19&ppcsclkid=h3zqYXeLsijG&ppcsu=xhg7f5djqeniramsegdoh Not inexpensive, but quite and move a lot of air. Come in black and white. Last thousands of hours on our boats/RV's.
