All other guidebooks and websites says there are. Think we'll backcountry camp, this place sounds like a mess.Manzana VillageWe are going to be at Crater Lake in July and are ditching the 5'er for a tent this time around. Everything on the net says Manzana campground has 25-30% (depending on where you read it) first-come sites. I called today to see when they make daily sites available and was told that it is a misconception that there are first-come sites, they are ALL reservable. I think he is wrong, judging from Yelp reviews and such about the accuracy of info from this concessionier. (Xanterra). Anyone have recent experience camping there without a res? No biggie as we can always backcountry camp but was just wondering.Re: BransonHave been to Branson numerous times. The KOA is nice, just be sure to come in through town and not down the "mountain", it is very steep. We stayed at Acorn Acres which is very nice, but close to Branson West, so it's on the far side of the strip. The Wilderness at Silver Dollar City has tiny spots, although there seemed to be a few big enough for larger rigs...the shuttle to SDC is nice. Be prepared to drop a load of cash in Branson, we never get out of there for less than $1500-2000 for a few days stay if you are going to do shows, attractions, and SDC.Re: Need New TiresPersonally I think the weight of today's trailers are exceeding the ability of any tire to safely transport them. I think they need to have an extra set of wheels like the toy haulers. Too many blow outs, I really think it's not always the tire's fault, it is the design of the trailer.Re: Are hybrids quieter than pop ups?I think it is about the same. I loved our HTT but one of the things that swayed us over to the fiver side was the noise from the all night drunks in the campgrounds (and screaming kiddos) plus the set up time (cranking the hitch, setting up the bunks. I miss the tent bunk but not the noise!Re: The Next Exit and Exit NowWe use The Next Exit and wouldn't travel without it. I bought the RV Road Atlas through Good Sam a few years ago and that is very very helpful as well, but when I sought a new edition this year I see it also is no longer published. :(Re: Certificate not honored by Good Sam.I had a similar experience; Good Sam park listed in the directory, the campground had it listed on their website and even had a large ad in the TL directory with the big red circle and all, even got the discount...but when I went to claim my free night of camping coupon, Good Sam sent it back saying the campground is not a Good Sam park and refused to honor it.Re: Trailer LifeI have been a member since March and have never received any magazine??!Re: GS Park UpdatesI had a similar experience; Good Sam park listed in the directory, the campground had it listed on their website and even had a large ad in the TL directory with the big red circle and all, even got the discount...but when I went to claim my free night of camping coupon, Good Sam sent it back saying the campground is not a Good Sam park and refused to honor it.Re: Mich. non-resident rip-offWow, lots of hostility directed at the OP! I agree that the rate charged for a public campsite should not discriminate residents from non residents, but each state has their own way of running things. Michigan is a mess right now, that state seems to be its own worst enemy! Talk about discouraging tourism. We've been to a few state parks there, some public non-state campgrounds as well. BTW, the photo of the rig above with the van and the oversized trailer is very unsafe!
