Will only be used for short trips, boondocking. Does anyone have suggestions for a type and manufacturer. Thanks for any help. MarkRe: Generator helpThanks for the replies. The generator is an Onan 4000. My problem is also confused by the fact that my engine batteries do not charge the house batteries. Could that be the same problem as the generator? I am further frustrated by the fact that none of the RV dealers around me will work on generators and they don't have a suggestion on who will work on them. The RV is new to me and I did install a Victron battery monitor when I first got the RV. The monitor seems to work fine when connected to shore power or unplugged. However it does not show any amp input when the vehicle engine is running. It also shows no amp input when I am holding the generator start button down. Again, any ideas are appreciated. RV.net has been a great resource to me in the past. MarkGenerator helpMy onboard generator starts and runs as long as I keep my finger on the "start" button as soon as I remove my finger it stops. Has anyone had this problem and if so did you find a solution? Thanks for any ideas and help. MarkRe: Victron BMV700 InstallatonThanks for the responses. I now have it installed correctly. The problem I was having was understanding that I needed an additional cable to go from the negative terminal on the battery to the shunt. The directions and you tube video never made that clear to me. Anyway a trip to the auto supply store for an additional cable was what I needed. MarkVictron BMV700 InstallatonI have one 12 volt battery and I am trying to install the Victron BMV700. My battery has 2 cables attached to the negative terminal and one cable attached to the positive terminal. My question is do both the negative cables get attached to the shunt and if so which goes to the "battery only" on the shunt and which goes to the "load and charger" side of the shunt? I thought this was going to be so easy. Probably my second installation will be a snap. Thanks for any help. MarkRe: War of the Worlds, a photoposé of the Page areaDave, Happy to see your TR. Hope you will keep sharing your adventures. MarkRe: All Roads Lead To Roam, or a western whazposé of picturesAnother great trip report from the Whazoo. You are the motivation that keeps a lot of us moving, at least in our dreams. I will be starting on my annual driving pilgrimage from Delaware to Montana next week. I hope to do some easy Whazoo type exploring along the way. Thanks for keeping all our butts in the drivers seat and feet on the move. When it is time for me to get some new body parts I want the name of your doctor. Best wishes to your and your lovely family. MarkRe: My new (used) TC - a couple more questions...I don't want to hijack this discussion but would appreciate advice on the easy fix for a locked up lift mechanism. Just happened to me this weekend and now the top is down, gears are stripped and mechanism is locked tight. Any help appreciated. MarkRe: DelaminationMy 2006 Apex 8 has had the same problem for a few years now. In September 2012 I started a thread on this forum entitled "Outfitter exterior damage". For some reason this thread seems to have disappeared from the forum. I have returned to Outfitter twice to have them look at the damage. They tell me that they must have received a bad batch of material. Since my camper was not under warranty there was nothing they could do. Outfitter did reluctantly offer to work on the damage, at my cost, if I could leave the camper with them for a few weeks. Since I live in Delaware this additional travel cost proved to be prohibited. The area I live is on the east coast and close to a number of boat and RV dealers. The RV dealers were not interested in working on this problem. I did take the unit to a few boat repair business and they all agreed that the problem was not with the material but with the installation of the material to the camper. They also agreed that would not undertake trying to repair the problem. After this summer I am going to try to sell my truck and camper with full disclosure of this problem to the buyer. My plan is to buy another camper, I don't know what make and model I will be buying, but I do know which one it will not be buying. MarkRe: Haz the Whaz ruined trip reports?Dave, Thanks for another great trip report. Our prayers and best wishes are being sent to you and your family. Mark
