Soon as you cross Del Mem bridge hit 301 South and follow that all the way through MD into VA and hit I-95 North of Richmond. Miss all the Baltimore, DC traffic. Go straight through Richmond-Petersburg and hit I-85. Only good time to hit Atlanta is in the middle of the night, no other good time that I have found. I came from Palm Springs CA to Orlando last Feb and stayed in Tucson, San Antonio, and Pensacola. Never had any trouble getting into campgrounds with a 45 footer towing a 30ft trailer. Stayed in a resort in Tucson. Good luck Thanks, being from Jersey and doing several trips from Jersey to FL I was already aware of 301. Great suggestion for some reading this that don't know the area.Re: Jersey Shore to San Antonio to Tucson via Rt10. wolfe10 wrote: rfsod48 wrote: Brett, the route you suggest around El Paso, does it have more mountains then staying on I 10 or less? Roland Slightly LESS. And almost no traffic. Google Earth it! No way to avoid all the grades, as you have to go "uphill" into N Mexico. But, the grade on 404 is mostly "high gear". Do NOT take 375/transmountain-- 8-9% up and down. Well noted. ThanksRe: Jersey Shore to San Antonio to Tucson via Rt10.For Tucson we are actually staying at house rental myself and other family members are sharing. We are heading to Tucson for a wedding. Its all the places between we need. Thanks for all of these replies. I read them all and take all suggestions. This is one of the main reasons I love RVing. Its a great big family.Re: Jersey Shore to San Antonio to Tucson via Rt10. wolfe10 wrote: An excellent option around El Paso from I 10 on the east side of El Paso is north on 375, north on U.S.54, northwest on 3255 which turns into NM 213, then west on 404 back to I10. MUCH less hassle. Thanks I will look into this for the route planning. That helps thank youRe: Jersey Shore to San Antonio to Tucson via Rt10. jplante4 wrote: Get the Allstays app for your phone. It lists everything - campgrounds, Wal*Marts, Cabelas, Cracker Barrel etc. Also shows rest stops and truck stops, places to get propane. The directions aren't great in the app, but you can get the address and plug it into a GPS. Also, check out Free Campsites Thanks I will check those out.Re: Jersey Shore to San Antonio to Tucson via Rt10.Thanks afrescop we will look at Andmiralty. I am coming via 85 south and 10. Have you traveled any of this route and know of good hold over spots to catch some sleep. I like to drive straight thru with limited stops for a few hrs rest.Jersey Shore to San Antonio to Tucson via Rt10.Taking the wife and two young kids cross country in class A. We are going to a wedding in Tucson. To keep out of freezing weather Im taking a southern route along Route 10. We plan to stop over in San Antonio for a day or so, and visit Sea World. Then to Tucson. Does anyone have any suggestions rest areas (Walmarts) safe places to park and sleep?Re: "Don't Buy New"Im with you and your common scenes approach. The only thing I would add is that you try to use it as often as you can in that first year. If you work it hard, and use everything, if something is going to break that will do it. Sorta like a stress test the first year. And lastly you could probably get an extended warranty fairly reasonable. Good luck in what you decide.Re: Key West FloridaThank you to all for your suggestions and assistance with our FL planning trip. After speaking with several members in private messages and through th forums we are not goin to take our first FL trip to the Keys. Ive found the Okeechobee KOA on line and will be going there. The reviews through Google are great and the photos show many things to entertain the kids. Again just wanted to thank everyone for your help. We are going down on the 11th so wish us luck. WRRe: Key West FloridaOK Well after reading your replies, I just may keep key west as a day trip rather than a stay. Another place we checked out on the web was St. Lucie West Motorcoach Resort? Any member here stay there. Much further north but looks good, and the reviews on line were not bad at all. Again, just mega searching here thanks..
