All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsthanks for all the past helpas many of you will remember, our rv'ving days took a serious turn last year with the failure of both our class a and the toad. it's going to be a haul to dig our way out of the financial crisis that created and in the meantime, hubby is now an OTR flatbed driver and mostly gone. i finally found an apt that i hope to move into by this weekend and have a mesa (AZ) rv dealer willing to take this thing on consignment. please say a prayer that it sells--would help those bills--but wanted to thank everyone both here and on the class c forum before that have helped with questions and concerns. lots of helpful advice! i learned a LOT, but apparently NOT how to pick a viable rv. this being the last few days in the rig and the end of an era or chapter in our lives--thanks to all, again.Re: Winnebago Sightseer 35J vs. Forest River Georgetown 350DShad a winnebago minnie-winnie--class c. traded for a FR Windsong--class a. nothing but problems with the latter. the former has a good name in the industry. we had no problems with it, just needed bigger/more room.Re: Sold it!!congratulations and good for you! hoping we can do the same shortly as i've finally found an apt we hope to get into july 2nd. once having vacated the rig, will clean it up and put on consignment. at this point i just want it sold! maybe pay for the bills it wracked up in repairs last year!Re: Our trip from H###have experienced those shut engine bells and alarm--enough to scare you to death--which they are designed to do and usually not for simple fixes. our experience resulted in my hubby looking for work again. it could be worse--i'm sitting in phoenix (100 degrees already) waiting for my DH (new truck driver) to make it home safely.Re: How was Quartzsite?managed to get in one visit the last day of the event. didn't do the overnight thing--we are snowbirds out of yuma. my DH enjoys the rocks so we did Gem World--love it. Visited the big tent and found vendors in a hurry to pack up and split. got a real bargain on some cleaner, threw in a 2nd bottle, the scrub brush, brush handle, microfiber cloths, and a couple other things he didn't want to pack. i wanted to see the RV's, but time was tight and visited only la mesa and the units at the big tent (paul evert?). they are into upper level new and DP'ers and those 2015 brands were way out of our reach. still, had a great time and want to go again; hopefully when we have more time!Re: Any Experience with these Brands/Makes?had a winnebago--was very happy with it, but it was a C. decided we needed more room when we went full-time. the A we chose was a poor one--FR. after the interior quality of the winnie, this thing is a major let down. :RRe: Yuma RV Park Recommendationsyes, and of course i thought of the foothills later, as that is where we are living! you mentioned park, so i thought of country roads as that is one of the nicest. i live square in the middle of some choice RV winter visitor lots. these are generally (but can be 3 or 4) 2 RV's to a lot. as big a rig as you want; most pet friendly (and fenced and gated) and can accommodate your toys. i walk my dog twice a day and would be happy to find a couple you might want to try. please free to PM me. i recommend a north-facing lot. many have separate facilities (ours does), most just have the full hook-ups. some are electrical extra, some included. want me to go look for you? Re: Yuma RV Park Recommendationsone of the finer parks close by yuma is http://www.countryroadsyuma.com/index.html while lots are owner occupied, there are many rentals available, and should be able to accommodate your size as well as your schedule. the park is full of amenities.RV's in SW AZmost of us are familiar with the run on RV's of all sizes, kinds, and descriptions in the desert southwest of AZ this time of year. i'm excited about the big RV show in quartzsite coming up later this month. located in yuma, we see "lemon" lots open up on several major corners in the foothills. these are a great place not only to sell your own rig, but to view other rigs for sale as a private sale that is a tax sale as well. next to fry's last weekend i spied a 2007 Tiffin Phaeton DP class A for $121k.......68k miles. beautiful rig! i'm looking and this was out of my budget, but gorgeous rig. so, problem: 350 hp.....40', 4 slide......underpowered?Re: How Long a Learning Curve Driving a Class A Randalvv wrote: We went through the same progression of rvs that you did. We bought our 34 foot Class A less than a year ago. I personally found it much easier to drive the motorhome than pulling our 30 foot fiver......It is quite a bit different driving in part because you are much higher and are sitting closer to the side of the coach which is wider than your truck was. I can say for certain that I will never go back to pulling a 5th wheel. that's interesting and a question i've had in mind--the A vs going to a 5er. i drove our C but have not driven this unit since we traded partly because it has had so many mechanical problems. however, i will agree with those who stated that it is different for the passenger as it seems you are running off the right side of the road. my DH is a center line hugger--always makes me nervous anyway--and i don't think this rig is wider than the others, but sure looks like we are running on that right solid line.
