You are right, this place is growning much to the distain of the oldtimes who are losing the county feeling. The big Piedmont Farmers Market is on Winecoff Rd, which is where we shop for the best produce in NC. We live close to the Midland border which is growing but we still have the feeling of country.Re: Trip to YellowstoneI tried a second time last night to write a long thank you to everyone of you who offerer us such wonderful advice and recommendations but again it failed to go through, have no idea why. But just thought everyone should know that we appreciate y'all taking the time to write to us as this information will help to make our trip to Yellowstone safer and more enjoyable.Re: Trip to YellowstoneI just finished a very long thank you to everyone and my computer, for some reason, wasn't able to send it and it got lost. Before I start again I'm sending this as a test.Re: Trip to YellowstoneSorry it took so long to get back here. Thank you GeoBoy and Corky12 for answering my question. I thought that 212 looked like an OK route but I think we'll stick with our first choice and stay on the interstate I-90, could be longer in miles but shorter in time and less stressful.Re: Trip to YellowstoneI forgot to ask a question, does anyone have information about which is the best, easiest, safest route from Rapid City to Billings, I-90 or 212?Re: Trip to YellowstoneIn answer to GeoBoy, we'll be staying in W.Yellowstone for 6 days. Thanks to Park Country on advice about fuel and dangers on route 191, we'll be careful. And bstar 1952, we were thinking of going that exact route because I really wanted to visit Cody but last winter we had a lot of mechanical problems with our 04 Ford F-250, although we had it repaired, we're not comfortable pushing it through the BigHorns, I hope we're making the right decision. In the meantime, hope you have a wonderful trip. Thank you one and all for your kind advice.Re: Trip to YellowstoneThank you all so much for your speedy replies. We're feeling a lot more comfortable about our choice to take 191. The advice about taking Bear Tooth Hwy. is well taken as we were thinking about doing that but do you think that trip can be done in one day or would it be better to try and get a motel for an overnight in Cody? Had not thought about Little Bighorn Natl. Battlefield or Devils Tower, we'll have to re think this and perhaps make some changes in our trip. Thank you again.Trip to YellowstoneLast year we were planning a trip to Yellowstone but we had to cancel, we're planning a new trip this summer. We'll be driving a 2004 Ford F-250 6 Ltr. Diesel, which we just spent $6,000. dollars to replace the Injectors, Turbo and EGR Cooler Valve so it should be good to go. We're pulling a 35" Sabre 5th Wheel. We have reservations at Grizzly RV Resort in W. Yellowstone from 8/26 to 9/2/26. We'll be coming from Mount Rushmore and seeing as we're not fond of steep grades we will pass on Route 16 to Cody. We plan to stay on I-90 to Bozeman then head south on 191 to W.Yellowstone. This was a recommended route for those people like us from RV TechMag from 5/11. I was wondering, seeing as that story is 5 years old, does anyone have any recent information on that route? It looks like it goes through the valley and should be an easy drive for us but would appreciate any recent information.Re: Summer trip to Rapid City to Grand Canyon2Gypsies, thank you for the information about the parks and camping, good advise. I had heard about free shuttles but didn't think they picked up at campground, good to know. I'd like to avoid the tunnels with the RV in tow too, heard about them but didn't know where they were. John, thank you for the up date on your timing to Cody. That will help us to better figure on how long it will take us to get there. Don't want to pull into Cody late and don't want to be tired after a long day on the road.Re: Summer trip to Rapid City to Grand CanyonHi John, Glad to hear that the Rodeo was enjoyable and that you picked a winner for a campground. We'll be staying at Yellowstone Vally, hope its good too. Thank you so much for the update on your travels and your scenic trip on Beartooth, sounds wonderful. I've made notes of your routes and will follow your lead. By the way how long did your trip take from Laurel to Cody? We're trying to figure if we can make it in one day from Rapid City to Cody or should we spend the night in Laurel? Looks like there's a Walmart in Laurel that allows overnight parking, if needed 2Gypsies, sorry I didn't answer earlier about traveling in Aug and Sept. I agree that would have been a better choice but I need to be back home for doctors appointment in mid Sept. Good advise about Mountain Directory, a friend has one which he's willing to lend us. Does anyone have any recommendations to which is the best campgrounds near Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon? Would love to make one stop and see them all. Thanks again to all.
