That what it was, the coupling on the CAC to the long turbo outlet pipe. The clamp was hand tight. Tightened it up and noise is gone. I can't believe that much noise came from that turbo leak. I will inspect the muffler while I have it out. Has anyone gone to a straight pipe instead of muffler? With the muffler out, it doesn't seam that loud. Thanks for all the help, I was getting ready yo pull the belt tensioner!Re: 2003 Cummins engine whine @2000+ RPM's ( Solved/Muffler?)Video was taken in driveway. It makes the same noise going down the road. Boy is it loud when you are accelerating on the onramp with a sound wall next to the road. The fan is a fixed blade with no clutch, which was replaced with factory OEM part.I will check all my boot/couples connections again. The clamps for the couplers were replaced with the upgraded design, which has a bigger spring. On the boot to the charge air cooler I had to modify the clamp (remove washer and bend stud), I will go back to the old clamp tomorrow. Thanks for all the ideas!!2003 Cummins engine whine @2000+ RPM's ( Solved/Muffler?)I have a 2004 Bounder Diesel on a 2003 freightliner XC with a Cummins 5.9 ISB. I had a over heating problem. I found the cooling fan had chunks missing on some of the blades. Had to remove radiator/charge cooler to get to it. Radiator was rebuilt and cleaned out (was plugged up). They tested the charge cooler and they said it looked like a sauna in the test tank. Replaced Charge cooler and both cold side boots. Got everything back together and now I have a high pitched whine that starts at 2,200RPM's and up and is pretty load (see video). Someone suggested that muffler was plugged up. Disconnect muffler and sound is there still. I have used a mechanics stethoscope to listen to turbo and alternator. They both sound normal. The sound kinda sounds like it is coming from rear bottom of the engine near fan. Maybe belt tensioner roller? Anyone ever heard this sound? Fan blades 5.9 ISB whineRe: 2003 Cummins engine sensor identificationNo Scott, it is shaped like a nut. I wish it was that one. The Freightliner dealer thought it was the Intake pressure senor and it was $110. I curse my size 14 shoes!!2003 Freightliner Cummins Pusher Fan coming apartWhile changing turbo couplings, I broke a un-named intake senor (see other post) I noticed the fan had chunks missing. I have been fighting a over heating issue in extreme heat and the last trip it ran hot a lot more and not as hot out. That can't help. Has any one changed one of these? It is a 2004 Freightliner 5.9 ISB pusher. There are other blades with bigger chunks missing. Fan picRe: 2003 Cummins engine sensor identificationGot link to work. Sorry Scott that sensor is for a Dodge Cummins, Mine is in a Freightliner rear pusher RV. Thanks anyway!Re: 2003 Cummins engine sensor identification I'm trying to post a picture, no luck yet.2003 Cummins engine sensor identificationWhile working on my 2003 Cummins 5.9 ISB on a freightliner, my size 14 huff broke off a sensor on the intake. Freigtliner doesn't have any good exploded drawings. My guess is turbo boost pressure or intake temp. I want to make sure before I order it. Picture of sensorKing dome satellite fuse location: Fleetwood Bounder DieselI do not use my factory installed King Dome Sat system on my 2004 Bounder Diesel model 39Z. while in sitting in stowage, the sat dome on the roof started making a clicking noise and the wired display is flashing led numbers. I want to down power the system. I can't seem to find the fuse for the system. Right now the coach battery disconnect is open, so I know it is coach powered. Before I start pulling fuses, I thought i would ask here. I'm sure some out there knows. I'm guessing a spare or aux spot.Strange sound coming from Cummins 5.9 ISBI have a 2004 Bounder diesel on a Freightliner with a 5.9 Cummins with 95K. About 3K or 4K miles ago, I started hearing a strange noise when I accelerate hard or I'm on the exhaust brake. Sounds like it is coming from the turbo. It is more of a whine. Has anyone heard of this? Click on the Noise below to hear it, sorry for the wind noise. I was full throttle, then exhaust brake a couple of times. Noise
