Owners of Dodge based RV's?We made our maiden voyage recently, just a short hop up to Santa Barbara for a day at the beach. I ran it by my tire/suspension shop and the front end is in pretty good shape. The boots are torn on the upper ball joints, but the only play was in the steering box. Nothing that $250 parts plus 2 1/1 hour labor won't fix. We lubed it up and after a few miles everything settled down and it drove much better. I think I can put off the steering box replacement for a while. The previous owner was at the beach party, and he said the dash scratches were there when he got it and that he hadn't heard that the engine was ever out. Now that the passenger seat is in, I see that they are right where your feet are, so that is the likely cause. I have more work to do to it next week. All my new interior lights are here, my new PD9260, WFCO8930, and Iota transfer switch are all here. And our new awning is on it's way, the fun never ends.Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Do these scratches mean that my engine has been removed? The engine is taken out through the passenger door, correct? It's the only thing that I imagine would make scratches like this. Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Here are the best pics I could get from my '79. Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?I was finally able to take the Tioga for it's first real test drive today. Long story short, I was not able to test drive it before buying it and only drove it about a half-mile to get it home. Anyway, it's running pretty good and stops well, but it has serious steering issues. I had a tough time keeping it in my lane, and I'm a million mile trucker who's driven some crappy trucks in my career. It wallowed like a drunk pig, and had a wicked shimmy starting at 45-50 mph. Some suspension work is definitely in order. Both upper ball joints are definitely shot, and everything else looks like...well, 30 year old parts. I may just bite the bullet and do a complete rebuild. Bushings and ball joints (if not complete new control arms), tie rod ends, idler arms, drag link, and shocks. Has anyone done this, or know of some good threads about it?Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's? ALnCORY wrote: my old 64 GTO would get 18 miles per gallon Really? My old '67 GTO wouldn't get anywhere near 18 mpg. Of course, my then 16 year old lead foot might have had something to do with it.Re: How many of us are there? Plus all the components are sealed, so less maintenance and no chance for corrosion. And they just look better too, imo. I'm a trucker, and I've been a fan of LEDs for years. I actually picked these up for just over $6 each from ryderfleetparts.com. Best price I've ever seen, and not cheap quality either. These are TruckLite (SignalStat).Re: How many of us are there?
