Purchasing this camper is a decision you will have to make. If you are not in a hurry you might find something better later (or not). Maybe take one more week and scour the Internet for other possibilities. Best wishes either on this camper or finding another that you will be happy with.Re: 1999 Catalina Coachman 299 TBThis is my thinking! We had a 1997 Catalina 25 footer. It was heavy and cost a fortune to pull. Personally I did not like the 8' width because it stressed me out on long trips (no margin for error...side to side). I bought a Starcraft AR One 18FB at a really good price. It is great, pulls great , easy on fuel and only 85" wide. I have experienced no sway at 70 mph without sway bars. Now, back to the Catalina; the one we had was a great camper, well laid out with a couch, full bed and full bath. Everything worked and wife loved it! So, in my opinion, if you like it, don't have a problem with the width, weight and towing stress (stress may not be a problem for you) then, it is a very good camper to consider buying. We enjoyed ours; just was not for me personally. If you are going to have payments and wish to consider the AR One, I can put you in touch with a great guy in Columbus, OH.....best prices in USA! Best wishes.Re: Ashville NC to Houston Tx /Avoiding AtlantaAccording to Bing Maps, to go through Chattanooga and Birmingham it takes 30 minutes and 40 miles more (15 hours compared to 14.5 hours). So, it is your choice. There is a long stretch around Fort Payne, AL where they have been working on the Interstate since the beginning of time that is really frustrating because the make you drive 45-55 mph for no good reason / that is when you can tell what the speed limit is since it seems to change several times. I have never really found Atlanta to be so bad if you avoid any rush times. They tend to speed a lot which to me, means you should be able to maintain the posted speed limit. I also understand the police are cracking down on speeders! Best wishes for a safe trip home!!Re: My Moral DilemmaIt has been my experience in the past when dealing with the government or even businesses, that trying to make things right usually causes me (you, us, anyone) a lot of trouble or even more expense. One more thought and then I will tell you my suggestion; a Ranger or some official should have visited your site with instructions to leave, etc. / thankfully they did not lock you in!!! lol. Doing nothing will not remove the guilty feeling although I really do not think the people in charge of the campground cared what you did. Otherwise, they would have made contact with you. You can donate an amount of money you feel is correct for the services you received to any non profit organization; and sleep well!!!
