The idea is there, if (s)he wants to try it; and, it certainly doesn't hurt me if (s)he doesn't want to try it. It shakes less and there are fewer wrinkles when done. I did just have to replace the brushes in the motor in ours. It's about 8 years old; and, we are fulltimers. So, it's been worked hard... From what I've read, the newer models have "brushless A/C motors."
