Thanks for all the replies. I am now leak free. Doug Rainer gave me some advice on how to seal the fitting. It was the fitting attached to the pex that was leaking. Had to use a ton of teflon tape over leak putty and keep tightening it till it finally stoped. Was afraid I was going to break the fitting. They used a short plastic pipe fitting into the tank as there was not enough room for a brass one, so the female fitting was pushing up against the collar of the pipe fitting. The bottom intake on the tank is less then 3 inches from the firewall of the engine so it was a challenge getting at it and getting it tight.362Views0likes0CommentsRe: Hot water leak on cold intake side.

My hot water heater has a small leak on the cold water intake side. It is a 10 gallon gas/electric atwood gc10a-2 hot water heater. It is under the washer/dryer, which we have removed. The space is very narrow, only enough room to reach in with one hand. We replaced the fitting with one of the new style compression ones but it is still dripping. I’m afraid to tighten in to much. Any ideas? My next thought was to remove the metal fitting that goes into the tank to see if it is damaged. Does anyone know if this is a check valve? I have looked on line and some say that there are two check valves, others say there are none. Looking for an answer to that question. Thanks all.1.6KViews0likes5CommentsRe: 20 year loan for RV?
I totally agree that taking out a 20 year loan on an RV is not the greatest idea. But saying that my 2005 MH is still in great shape. She has 116K miles on her. One the coach side we have replaced the fridge and repaired a few things inside. On the chassis we have replaced the turbo and fan assembly. New tires. Other then that, just regular yearly maintenance. Not bad for a 15 year old motorhome. I plan on keeping her till the wheels fall off. Doug I agree Doug, I certainly would not jump to any conclusion. I was only relaying what the owner said to me, and what happened just prior to the fire. I asked her if they had had the upgrade done and thats what she told me. I know that we had a recall notice on our Dometic fridge and the fix was done by a dealership. We are camped at Holtville hot springs LTVA near Calexico CA. On Friday this Safari MH started on fire. According to the owner on scene it started in the Norcold fridge. The fire department pumper truck arrived in about 15 min but at that point it was basically to keep it from spreading to the nearby trees. Sad for the owners from British Columbia. The wife was the only one inside when the fire started. She told me that she heard a buzzing and her check fridge light had come on, she reset it but the noise continued and she turned off the fridge. That’s when she noticed the smoke. She grabbed her purse and passport and got out. Within a few minutes it was burning hard. I took this picture about 10 min after it started. Just when the first responder arrived. Good thing was no one was hurt. They hauled the remains out yesterday. The fire department was called back again because the trees near it were still smouldering. Sadly the vet costs to do dental care can be very expensive. I had to have one cracked tooth removed from a 4 year old healthy standard poodle and it was $1200. My friend was told to have a complete dental on her 12 year old mini poodle was around $1500. It will definitely depend on how bad the teeth are. But most vets require putting the dog under anesthetics to do even the simplest cleaning. Yorkie’s teeth require regular brushing and scaling. If she is coming from a puppy miller she has likely not had any dental care. But a good groomer should be able to tell you what the teeth look like visually.
