It was the fitting attached to the pex that was leaking. Had to use a ton of teflon tape over leak putty and keep tightening it till it finally stoped. Was afraid I was going to break the fitting. They used a short plastic pipe fitting into the tank as there was not enough room for a brass one, so the female fitting was pushing up against the collar of the pipe fitting. The bottom intake on the tank is less then 3 inches from the firewall of the engine so it was a challenge getting at it and getting it tight.Re: Hot water leak on cold intake side. midnightsadie wrote: most likely a pin hole in that area, or it would have not started to leak, your this far in pull it. We replace the pex and the fitting. The water is defiantly dripping from the new fitting or where it screws into. Not from the tank.Hot water leak on cold intake side.My hot water heater has a small leak on the cold water intake side. It is a 10 gallon gas/electric atwood gc10a-2 hot water heater. It is under the washer/dryer, which we have removed. The space is very narrow, only enough room to reach in with one hand. We replaced the fitting with one of the new style compression ones but it is still dripping. I’m afraid to tighten in to much. Any ideas? My next thought was to remove the metal fitting that goes into the tank to see if it is damaged. Does anyone know if this is a check valve? I have looked on line and some say that there are two check valves, others say there are none. Looking for an answer to that question. Thanks all.Re: 20 year loan for RV?I totally agree that taking out a 20 year loan on an RV is not the greatest idea. But saying that my 2005 MH is still in great shape. She has 116K miles on her. One the coach side we have replaced the fridge and repaired a few things inside. On the chassis we have replaced the turbo and fan assembly. New tires. Other then that, just regular yearly maintenance. Not bad for a 15 year old motorhome. I plan on keeping her till the wheels fall off. BTW no loan to pay :)Re: Motorhome fire at Holtville hot springs LTVA dougrainer wrote: Diplomat_St_Poodles wrote: Ranger Smith wrote: Another Norcold fire. That refrigerator should be outlawed. NOBODY knows for a fact what caused the fire and IF it was the Norcold refer that was the cause. It could have originated from an LP leak in the refer area. 2. Norcold DOES NOT send recall kits to retail customers. The recall has been out for over 10 years. 3. The RV'er was AWARE OF THE FACT AND REFUSED TO HAVE HIS REFER UPDATED. The fact he had the kit, shows his responsibility to have it installed. 4. It is sad they have this horrible problem, but people have to be responsible for there inaction to install recall parts. 5. The unit is over 20 years old and NOBODY knows the history or repair of the systems on this RV. It could have had a dirty burner or nests in the back of the refer that caught fire when it lit on LP. It could have had an LP leak that caught fire from a previous repair that was NOT to spec when the LP section was not secured correctly. Doug I agree Doug, I certainly would not jump to any conclusion. I was only relaying what the owner said to me, and what happened just prior to the fire. I asked her if they had had the upgrade done and thats what she told me. I know that we had a recall notice on our Dometic fridge and the fix was done by a dealership. The Safari looked in good condition but you are correct, you never know how things are maintained.Re: Motorhome fire at Holtville hot springs LTVA Ranger Smith wrote: Another Norcold fire. The owner, although shell shocked, said they had the “kit” but had not installed it yet.Motorhome fire at Holtville hot springs LTVAWe are camped at Holtville hot springs LTVA near Calexico CA. On Friday this Safari MH started on fire. According to the owner on scene it started in the Norcold fridge. The fire department pumper truck arrived in about 15 min but at that point it was basically to keep it from spreading to the nearby trees. Sad for the owners from British Columbia. The wife was the only one inside when the fire started. She told me that she heard a buzzing and her check fridge light had come on, she reset it but the noise continued and she turned off the fridge. That’s when she noticed the smoke. She grabbed her purse and passport and got out. Within a few minutes it was burning hard. I took this picture about 10 min after it started. Just when the first responder arrived. Good thing was no one was hurt. They hauled the remains out yesterday. The fire department was called back again because the trees near it were still smouldering. What remained after the fire department left. Re: Cost of dental work on a small dog?Sadly the vet costs to do dental care can be very expensive. I had to have one cracked tooth removed from a 4 year old healthy standard poodle and it was $1200. My friend was told to have a complete dental on her 12 year old mini poodle was around $1500. It will definitely depend on how bad the teeth are. But most vets require putting the dog under anesthetics to do even the simplest cleaning. Yorkie’s teeth require regular brushing and scaling. If she is coming from a puppy miller she has likely not had any dental care. But a good groomer should be able to tell you what the teeth look like visually. It is not hard to tell if a dog is in need of expensive dental care or just a routine cleaning.Re: door lock, need replacement for this oneThey come as two separate units. Exterior and interior. This is the link to the exterior one. https://www.prvparts.com/product-p/17217-02.htm This is the complete unit. The interior looks a bit different then yours. https://www.prvparts.com/product-p/30-900.htm From their website. 17217-02 - Trimark RV Motorhome Entrance DoorRe: Bedroom slide breaking shear pins Rick Jay wrote: I will concur, there are no limit switches used in the system. I examined the PC board of the slideout controller and see no circuitry that will remove current to the motor when it stalls. The motor apparently will stay powered until you release the switch. IF there is any type of limiting, it's done at the motor (internally, as there is no external component/circuit used), but I don't think that is likely. A GBM slide operation manual specifically states: "Press the Switch labeled ‘OUT’, and hold it until the room seals against the inside wall. The slide-out can also be stopped at any time during its travel cycle by releasing the switch. Caution: do not over-extend the slide-out to the point that the wood trim around the edge begins to flex." So that doesn't sound like any limiting is being used. Again, I have the same system on my rig and never had a problem with shear pins. In fact, until I had to replace a motor (due to a broken mounting boss), I didn't even know there were shear pins on the gear. It really sounds like the OP's problem stems from an improperly spec'd shear pin. ~Rick Hi Rick. Thanks for sending all the manuals. I will post back next time I shear a pin. Hopefully Joe has solved my problem with the ones he sent. Thanks All
