Even the Mercedes dealers won't tackle it. I've called several Mercedes shops in the Bay Area and they either say they can't or their shop won't accommodate working on a Sprinter. Anyone know of anyone who has retrofitted a cruise control on the Mercedes engine on my type of Sprinter RV???Window Replacement on Vista Cruiser MiniI am in need of replacing the large (56W X 25H) passenger side rear window on my 2008 Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser Mini (Mercedes Diesel). It is apparently a Dometic window. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how best to do that. I've contacted two local RV dealers and they both seem reluctant to try to find and install a replacement. All I really need to replace is the glass (appears to be a dual pane/plastic of some sort) and exterior rubber seal, but would require removing an installing the holdups and locking levers. One dealer suggested I just take to a auto glass installer, which seemed a strange recommendation, but would be great if they did such things.Re: Towing 2002 Jeep - Steering wheel lockI don't tow a Jeep, but I do tow an Explorer with the gear in tow neutral and the key in the ignition. When I am camped or am going to be away from the vehicle I simply take it out of neutral, remove the key and lock it.Re: Navion/View 24J or 24MThe corner bed is a pain for the reasons mentioned. The one who gets up more often definitely needs to sleep by the opening. Storage is limited and it's not as comfortable as a larger unit once camped. But... it is economical, drives like a dream, convenient to park, easy to set up and store and has all of the essential comforts. Plus, even with the small Mercedes diesel it can still pull a good sized toad! We love our (similar) mini vista cruiser.Re: Extended WarrantyAlways a tough call. I decided to buy one and it does give me some comfort of mind. Used it once so far for a small amount, about $250 above deductible, and had no hassles with it at all.Re: Towing 2003 Explorer 4WD With 6cyl MB DieselI am hoping to contact someone who has towed an Explorer or other 4,000+ weighted vehicle with the same setup we have. My Sprinter 3500 has a tow hitch rated at 5,000 pounds and my Freightliner/Sprinter 3500 user manual lists maximum towing weight as 7500 lbs. The Explorer is just over 4,000 pounds. So... The question seems to be simply whether the towing experience would be a problem because of the smallish Mercedes diesel engine. We don't mind slowing down when going up grades or in mountainous regions. Please contact me with your experience if you have done this or advise if you know this is not advisable. We need to make a decision soon as to whether to invest in towing the Explorer four down.Re: Towing 2003 Explorer 4WD With 6cyl MB DieselMy Sprinter 3500 has a tow hitch rated at 5,000 pounds and my Freightliner/Sprinter 3500 user manual lists maximum towing weight as 7500 lbs. I had a local mechanic install the LED light indicating when in tow position and he was also able to do the programming... walked through the multi-step process to put in neutral and it works like a charm. I'm still undecided as to whether to tow it or go another route, e.g., tow our Prius on a dolly. I'm seeing $3-3500 to set up for towing four down and it may well be too heavy. I've read all the manuals. The weight information provided by the RV manufacturer isn't thorough enough and they're unresponsive.Mods Needed to Tow Four DownAs a novice at towing a vehicle behind an RV, and as I embark on modifying my intended tow vehicle - a 2003 Ford Explorer 4WD - I'd appreciate feedback as to exactly what I should expect to have to purchase and in general be doing to get it set up and ready to tow... hitch, stabilizers, brake assist (if) required, road debris screen, etc. I will then seek quotes from local vendors who provide that service. Thank you!Towing 2003 Explorer 4WD With 6cyl MB DieselI have a 2008 Freightliner Mini Vista Cruiser (4231) with the Towing 6cyl Mercedes Diesel. After some effort, I've managed to get my 2003 Explorer 4WD set up with a neutral tow kit and now I'm having second thoughts as to whether I can/should tow it with my MVC. I'd very much appreciate insights from anyone with a similar MVC who has towed a vehicle with four wheels down and specifically a heavier vehicle (just over 4,000 pounds) like my Explorer. I know lighter would be better, but my question is whether it will create any problems I may not be aware of.
