It's an RV/TV forum that was intended to HELP people and spread related news and information and it seems that a lot of people forget that. I do appreciate the input from MOST people on here and hope that the others grow up soon. Good day to all.Re: 2013 RAM 3500 Hitch PrepBTW, I was told that there is no adapter to go from factory hitch to a B&W style to fit the Companion.Re: 2013 RAM 3500 Hitch PrepTalked to B&W yesterday and not only do they make one for the trucks that DO NOT have the hitch prep but it also fits the trucks that do have it. All you do is remove the 4 bolts that hold the factory gooseneck hitch in and bolt the B&W hitch in it's place! This could have saved some a lot of grief. I love my B&W Companion so it's great news for me that I can but truck with or without hitch prep and be good to go.Re: WHICH ONE DO I BUY?Looks like I'LL be going with the RAM 3500. Thanks to all who contributed USEFUL information and to the others, thanks for the entertainment. :DRe: 2013 RAM 3500 Hitch PrepI have seen what they offer for a truck WITHOUT the hitch prep but the one I really want because of options and color HAS the the hitch prep. From what I can tell, the gooseneck portion will unbolt with 4 bolts leaving the exact same mounting location as the trucks WITHOUT the hitch prep. I have a call in to B&W to confirm but this may make it possible to get the exact truck truck I want. I have a second color option that doesn't have the prep package but the one that does already has spray in liner and trailer plug in bed, both of which I would add anyways so if you B&W is a direct fit, I get the best of both worlds. If any of that makes sense? Just hoping someone has tried this as it looks completely possible and could have saved some people on here alot of grief over this whole hitch prep fiasco.2013 RAM 3500 Hitch PrepI am sure this probably been discussed but, has anyone taken out the gooseneck hitch from the factory hitch prep package and placed a B&W in the location it was removed from? After looking under a truck equipped with the factory hitch and one without, I noticed that the crossmember "appears" to be identical with the exact same bolt location holding in the factory gooseneck hitch as what would hold in the B&W set up. I also notice the the factory one only uses 4 out of the 6 possible bolt holes which seems a bit dumb. The reason I ask is that I will be purchasing a new RAM this week and the one my dealer has in stock that I want has the factory hitch prep but since I currently run a B&W with a companion I couldn't care less about the 5th wheel mounting locations in the hitch prep group but I am NOT paying $300 for a gooseneck ball or jacking with the whole "picture frame" plate just to use a different 5th wheel setup. Your thought? Sorry so long.Re: WHICH ONE DO I BUY?I appreciate all the useful input on this and still am not sure. As of now, price has me leaving towards the Chevy as it is almost 5k cheaper but I have always had great service out of my cummins trucks. Curious about the changes coming up from both manufacturers over next couple years as well. Thanks again all.Re: WHICH ONE DO I BUY?Understood. I only listed those readings as a reference. Honestly, I would be thrilled if I could average 11mpg from any of them while towing. All the dodges I have owned always displayed I higher mpg than the actual hand calculated number but my GMC has always been very accurate. I have no experience with Ford. I will be driving the truck daily as my primary vehicle so I kind of need to keep mpg in mind while empty. Thanks for comments.Re: WHICH ONE DO I BUY?Thank you. I am hoping to hear opinions of present owners on all aspects. One of my concerns is fuel mileage. I know I can't expect to set any mpg records with any of them pulling that TH but I'm sure some get better numbers than others. I drove a 2013 Dodge 3500 DRW Laramie today and was extremely impressed with the ride quality surprisingly but the display showed 13.6 mpg average at best over the test drive which I think is horrible. Drove 2014 Ford next with a displayed average of 17.2! I am not "a Ford guy" but I refuse to let a name badge cloud my decision this time. Going to drive a Chevy tomorrow and go from there. I hear the Duramax likes to drink the DEF fluid much more so than the other 2 but can't confirm. Sorry so long, I'm just typing what I'm thinking. Thanks agian for the feedback.WHICH ONE DO I BUY?First off, Hello all and thank you in advance. Late last year I purchased a KZ Inferno 4012 knowing that my current tow vehicle (06' GMC 2500 4x4 Duramax) would be overloaded but couldn't pass up the deal on the Inferno. Although I have pulled the unit a few times with this truck, I am aware that an upgrade is inevitable. So, here I am now asking for any input on which 3500 DRW to purchase next? I feel like the "BIG 3" are all really close in all aspects these days I am hoping to hear FROM ACTUAL OWNERS of these rigs with pro's and con's that you have encountered thus far with your truck. Please keep the comments to trucks that are comparable to the 2013 models that I will be shopping. I am interested in hearing ANY feedback you have to offer and appreciate all feedback given. Thanks again.
