Thinking about a new sink and faucet
I am wondering if anyone has changed their TC kitchen sink and faucet. I have a Lance 820. Would a Lowes/HD faucet work as far as connections go? Are these pretty standard? Are sinks pretty standard both in size and faucet holes? My camper is in Florida and I am in NH but we will be reunited in 2 weeks and I was thinking of spoiling her with a change. I have a rectangular, 2 bay sink. Nice in theory but neither side is really big enough although I'm not sure I want 1 bay for that whole wash, rinse, rack dry experience. I've been towing from Whitehall, NY over that route through Vermont for 25 years and never been stopped. It's a great drive. Very scenic. Only 20 miles of 4 lane in Vermont (Fairhaven to Rutland) if you skip the bypass around Bennington and drive through their very cool little town. Woodstock can get a little jammed up but is a neat town. Queechee Gorge just before White River Junction is definitely worth a stop. In NH you can take Rt 89 to Concord and then follow Rt 9 to Rochester or Dover, or, take Rt 11 at Exit 11 and go out through the lower end of the Lake Winnipesauki region to Rochester. Then any number of ways to Rockland on Interstates or great drives through scenic little towns. I have lived in South east NH my whole life and you can really enjoy the trip if you want.485Views0likes0CommentsRe: Torklift fronts and Happijac rear?
Thanks everyone. I went with..... Torklift front and rear. I installed them this morning. Saving $250 on HappiJac bumper buttons was very tempting, I mean, I had them on my 96 F250 and was happy with them right? I looked this all over. I grabbed my 96 rear bumper and pulled, and pushed, and pulled some more. Nope, didn't budge. I grabbed the 2013 GMC rear bumper. I hope it holds if I get rear ended. Yup, it moved rather easily. Thanks to Andrew at Torklift for some excellent customer service. He probably thought I'm an ignorant dumb--s but very politely explained to me how to fish the bolt fish wire for the front mounts. That took longer than installing them. Maybe 15 minutes each side. The rears were more challenging. The driver's side- 15 minutes. Easy-peasy. Passenger's side? Ummm no. The rears have 4 mounting holes. 2 go to the holes in the bottom of the spring shackles and 2 are GMC OEM frame bolts. 1 of the shackle bolts wouldn't feed so I had to take a small trip and buy a 1 1/2" to use instead of the supplied 2". Now easy-peasy. I love the look and they are super steady. If you don't know what you are looking at you don't even see them.723Views0likes0CommentsRe: Torklift fronts and Happijac rear?
Thanks everyone for your input. There doesn't seem to be a wrong answer to this which clears my thinking like mud. Ha. I looked at doing a bar out of the end of my hitch like suggested but it looks like it might hit my fender on 1 side and exhaust on the other. The torklift bracket sits forward just enough to clear. I'm leaning to front and back torklift because I am nervous about the rear bumper. I don't mind bending, and replacing, a bracket but not a bumper. My 96 F250's bumper doesn't seem any worse for the wear but who knows what the difference in materials are now. Thanks everyone for your input. I have been hauling my Lance 820 on my 97 F250 with Happijac mounts. I have a 2013 GMC 3500 that I just bought. I like the idea of the Torklift front mounts better. I am wondering if anyone here has used the Torklift fronts and the Happijac buttons on the rear. The obvious benefit to this is price. Anyone here done this? Why? Any regrets? I bought 6/1 springs last winter from SD Springs. My son and I changed them, but to be fair, he's a diesel mechanic and we did it at his shop. Took the bed off for easier access and used air tools. Far better carrying capacity than the OEM 4/1 springs. Truck sits level loaded with my Lance 820 now and at same height it used to sit empty. I had a Northstar 850 with a cassette. Now I have a Lance 820 with a black tank. This week I developed a horrible odor from the toilet. It appears that particulate matter doesn't always flush out. Pieces stick to the sides of the tank, dry out, stink up the place. I spent a good half hour filling, spraying, bleaching, emptying, etc to get it back under control. My cassette toilet never did this. Empty, rinse, repeat. Anyplace. Winter time just fill the reservoir with windshield washer fluid. If you are in a CG with septic, sure, it's easier to hook up and pull the lever a few times but in the long run the cassette is far easier and less work.306Views0likes0CommentsRe: Help with Lance 820 solar set up
Some follow up to this that may help someone in the future. The 2 large wires (2gauge) are to the generator! I had a bad transfer relay and no good way to change it out so I haven't tried the generator again until today. My water heater died an awful death over the winter. My bad, messed up with the winterization. So with a large hole in the side of the camper I now have access. Time to fire up the generator and test the relay..... OK start now.... not a sound. I hooked the 2 large wires to a jump pack and voila! Generator sounds. OK so the gas is off because the water heater is unhooked. For $78.00 from Amazon delivered tomorrow I will soon have a new transfer relay.658Views0likes0Comments
