Some of those folks will probably go back to their prior lifestyle as the pandemic lifts, but maybe not as many as some here think. Some might like the experience, and become RVers for life. The other thing is that Work-From-Home will probably outlast the pandemic. Many employees like it, some employers didn’t have any productivity loss and are looking to reduce real estate costs. Coupled with improved mobile Internet service, there could be more people getting into RVing earlier as they have more options about where they work. Might be more folks moving to lower-cost areas, too, as people ditch high-cost housing areas.Re: Resuming Rving... ideas dealing with Covid. I recall the Florida governor actually sued, raided the home and arrested a health official who was reporting the real numbers of cases and deaths. You might want to dig a little deeper. That fired employee was dropped from her graduate program for misconduct, was arrested for cyberstalking, and has made allegations that haven’t held up. More here.Re: St Augustine CampgroundsHave overnighted at Stagecoach ~ a dozen times coming or going further south, and never knew it had a 10-year rule. I suspect it is only invoked for RVs in obvious poor shape. Seems like a well-run place, so a phone call would probably resolve any questions.Re: Jetty Park, Cape CanaveralIt’s been a few years since I was at Jetty Park, and I was in a Class B, so moving around wasn’t a problem, but my recollection is that the previously-mentioned Publix was the closest supermarket. Could be a convenience store somewhere closer, but it might be a good idea to stock up on your way in. There are some restaurants along the shipping channel within easier walking/biking distance, and the campground store carried a few snack food items, IIRC.Re: Washing RV while travelingThe ‘South of the Border’ campground in Dillon, South Carolina has a self-service car wash with two RV bays, one of which seemed big enough for most motorhomes, IIRC. The ‘resort’ is fashionably tacky, at best, but it’s close to I-95, fairly inexpensive and located at just about the right stopping point when I head south. I’m in a Class B, so it’s a bit easier for me ($2), but the RV wash comes in handy after driving through winter snow or slush.Re: Take-out in Yellowstone...Shouldn’t this be in Camp Cooks and Connoisseurs Forum? Moderators must be a little slow today, eh?Re: Any one else giving up snow birding due to the covidNot officially a snowbird, but have gone to Florida for Spring Training baseball the last 6 years. Started out going for ~ a week, and expanded to ~ a month, before last year was cut short when MLB canceled the remaining games about halfway through. The County park campground I use reopened October 1, and MLB has posted a full 2021 Spring Training schedule, although tickets haven’t gone on sale yet. I expect them to wait as long as possible before making a decision, but wouldn’t expect full-capacity for spectators. Some local-government-owned Spring Training sites have posted plans for allowing some socially-distanced spectators. Got a full refund on tickets & campground last year when everything closed, so money probably not an issue. In theory, being cautious and self-contained should provide about the same protection there or at home, but we’ll see how it looks when I have to make a decision. Best case scenario is probably 3 weeks starting in the 2nd week of March; worst case is MLB and/or Florida never allowing spectators, taking the decision out of my hands. That’s 5 months away, a lot could happen, but late November or early December might be crunch time for deciding.Re: Leaving dog at campsiteA dog barking is one thing, but how about blowing the horn? I was in a campsite that was one of 10 clustered around a circle, like the face of a clock, so those at the bottom of the circle faced back to one of the interior campground roads. There was a small dog left alone in a Sprinter-based RV next to me, who sat in the driver’s seat watching the road. Any time someone passed by walking a dog, the dog in the RV excitedly jumped up & down in the seat, barking a bit, but also hitting the horn with its front paws each time. Not that many dogs went by, maybe 4 or 5 in 2-3 hours, and the horn blowing only lasted 30 seconds or so each time, so I was mostly amused, but it might have been different if there were more dog traffic, or a dog in one of the other campsites that remained in view for a longer period. I was away from the campground when the owners returned, and they left the next morning, so I never found out if they were aware of their dog’s unique talents.Re: Campground on river VA/WV/KYHaven’t been there myself, but Shenandoah River State Park in Virginia seems to be highly regarded, including by the reviews at Campground Reviews.Re: Confused and FrustratedHave you looked at a lot of RVs, at least online? Might also want to go to a RV show if there’s a large one in your area. Don’t need to buy at the show - those prices are generally available despite the hype - but it can be a good way to see what the options are.
