The shades had never been cleaned before and the stain had set for quite sometime before we noticed it and the hot TX sun had been shining on it the whole time. Our DIL and granddaughter had stayed in the RV a while when our son was in Afghanistan and she had forgot about the spill and didn't mention it, so it had been set in for several months. I hope this info helps if You have more questions I'll be glad to answer them. My husband and I both are amazed at how well it worked, like I said the shade looks as if nothing had ever been on it and it was also on the white part of the shade. We did spray out around the stain a bit, but did not spray the whole shade.Re: Self Adhesive Kitchen Tile Mod 2013We did a similar project in our 5th wheel, behind the stove there was the papered wall board I was so afraid of grease splatters we found a product at Lowes in the kitchen appliance dept. They are large plastic sheets that look like the antique ceiling tiles, different design patterns and colors. Cut with heavy duty scissors or even tin snips they go up with double sided tape and also come with material to cover the electrical wall plates and trim pieces to finish the edges. Covered the whole wall area behind sink counter and range. Have had them up for over two years and love them, they have never come loose, heat resistant and wipe clean in a second. The dealer that we bought the trailer from even commented on them looking nice and have had several other compliments on them. We chose a copper color that blends perfectly with the floor. Hd the same wall board behind the towel rack in bath, took down the rack and placed a 1/8" inch thick piece of clear plexiglass behind the rack using the screws from the rack to hang it. No worries now from wet towels or swimsuits damaging the wall from moisture. Also did the same thing on the side of the cabinet for wet dish towels, hung the plexiglass with four small screws and used Command Hooks on top of it. Both applications work great.Cleaning day/night window shadesThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27066998Cleaning day/night window shadesThought this might be helpful, our young granddaughter spilled red koolaid on the shade at the dining table. We were sure it was ruined, but there is hope and thank goodness there is Oxi Clean. We removed the shade and laid it out on a large table with white or light colored towels under it,sprayed it with the spray type oxiclean and blotted and scrubbed lightly kept repeating this until stain was gone. Then sprayed lightly with clear clean water and blotted with more clean towels just to rinse the oxiclean out a bit. It got the stain out completely but it looked like the starch was gone in the pleats we let it dry completely and sprayed with some spray starch pleated them up completely then wrapped it tight with strong rubber bands and let dry. They look like new can't tell the stain was ever there. They are very expensive to replace not to mention the fabric ours is made with had been discontinued so all would have had to be replaced, so this was a real money saver. Re: Axles that barely pass specsJust now am able to get back on since original post, I made a typo when my husband was telling me what to put on here, we were only going 30-35 a lot of the time and pulled off the road numerous times to let traffic go around us. We were being passed like we were sitting still by motor homes, trailers, you name it. Our trailer has 6000 # axles under it and no we were not overloaded. We removed a lot of stuff that we normally carry to lessen the weight even more. Didn't even stock up on groceries, stopped and bought as needed. We rolled over the scale at the Canadian border and all was fine. If you wish to say the bad spots in the road are well marked ok that is if you call black skid marks in the center of the dips well marked, we have talked to several travelers that have commented on them also. Several people have commented on here that we tore up this rig ourselves and that is your opinion. I guess the one month wait to get repairs must be from all those who passed us and got in line for their repairs first, and I must say I hate to see what they might have done to theirs. as for the TOW highway we had decided if we do make that trip our rig will be parked and we'll make. It in the truck alone, which is an 07 Chevy 3/4 ton dura max diesel the rig is an 08, 38' fifth wheel Cedar Creek. We also do not have any extras on the rear of the trailer such as a generator it's in the truck bed. I'm sure my husband will have a few more numbers as soon as we talk to the repair man.Re: Selecting 5er getting close to decisionNoticed that Forest River particularly Cedar Creek was not mentioned here, this one was highly recommended to us for full timing. We have less than 8000 miles on this trailer 38' fifth wheel and just in this one trip to Alaska we have had a belly plate fly out from under it going down the hwy at 70 mph, those were put on backwards, at the factory, one runner for a sliding bathroom door fell off of the backside only way to repair was remove a wall to access it, this due to a screw that was too short to hold the weight of the doorframe the factory, now we are sitting here with a front landing leg that is broke and to top that found out today we have a bent axle. A lot of buyers remorse going on here right now. I would say stay away from Forest River. We have babied this trailer because we knew we wanted to go full time one day but it didn't even make it through a good test drive in my opinion. Someone ask me today what else could go wrong and I don't even want to think about the possibilities.Axles that barely pass specsWe have a bent axle that has caused the shock absorbers to rub the inside of the tires. We are in Alaska in a Cedar Creek by Forest River, we were told that the axles just barely met the specs for the trailer weight. Speed limit in AK is 55 most of the time the road conditions allow only 45-50 if you plan on traveling up here in a fifth wheel or any trailer have the axles and brake shoes and pads checked before leaving. Also would be best if tires were better than 10 ply. The road conditions in some places are extremely rough, always make sure you have a spare for both trailer and tow vehicle and have brakes checked and adjusted before entering the Yukon Territory. You will find parts for vehicles and RV's extremely hard to find in AK or YT, most have to be ordered and will take two weeks to one month to arrive, 80-90% of the RV Dealers and repair places are booked 30-45 days in advance. Part of this advice comes from experience and upon dealing with some of these issues having the others done as a preventative. Anyone else traveling in a Cedar Creek in Alaska?
