Two other advantages not mentioned in other comments to date: 1) Two different times I have been able to get my "home" locals when way out of market. Once on the western arc and once on the eastern arc. 2) Last Super Bowl we had my Pathway and a Tailgater side by side both tuned into the same station off the same arc feeding 2 different TV's at a large party. A rainstorm came through, the tailgater went to SD and then lost signal (rain fade) the Pathway kept HD throughout the rain storm and never dropped the signal.Re: Dish Tailgater System Dropping Channels Bill & Kate wrote: You get what you pay for. Had the Tailgater, and while it was nice and compact and light, only pulled in a marginal signal, and if you couldn't "see" the southwest satellites, you were screwed. We finally bit the bullet, sold the Tailgater on eBay, and got the Windgard Pathway X2. A little bigger and heavier, but a much more robust unit with a larger antenna dish. Side by side, we got almost twice as strong a signal with the X2. Also can get the southeast satellites if you can't hit the southwest ones, and supports a second receiver if you want. To share a personal experience. In February our church had a Super Bowl Party. My friend supplied a Tailgater and I supplied Pathway X2. We set them up side by side. We each had VIP211Z receivers both hitting Birmingham HD locals off the 129 sat. The Eastern sats were not an option due to building height and length of cable run where the TV's were set up. During the game a heavy rain came through the area. The Tailgater went to SD and a couple minutes later no signal staying off for about 30 minutes. The Pathway never lost its HD signal. I know this is not a scientific survey but it tells me the larger dome on the Pathway works in rain. And you also have the option of hitting eastern or western sats which has come in handy on several occasions to get around trees.Re: Satellite TV Systems bgum wrote: I have been told that Dish network does not reach very far North. It seems their bird spots central U S A. Totally untrue. It is true you have difficulty hitting the western dish birds (110, 119 & 129) the further north and east you go. A problem with the tailgater and some other auto acquire units is they only acquire the western sats. The solution, buy a auto sat such as the Pathway which gives you a choice of hitting the dish western or eastern (61, 72, 77) sats. The Dish Eastern sats are much higher in the sky in the north and east and thus helping to resolve tree issues. As you go north and west, then the eastern sats become harder to hit but the western sats become easier. In many parts of the country, with a unit such as the Pathway, you have a choice of which to hit and makes dish placement to get around the trees easier. For these reasons and the fact that Dish has a pay as you go plan for RV's, one has a strong argument that Dish is better solution than Direct for RV's. Also, with Dish you can get HD easier and with a cheaper investment.Re: Satellite with National Channels Dutch_12078 wrote: edbehnke wrote: you are confusing the situation. when you talk about 'national' channels you are talking about 2 different things. 1. there WAS a 'national' programming system where you got a waiver, and renewed every 6 months....but the FCC stopped the sat companies. these were the NEW YORK FEEDS 'national channels of ABC, CBS, NBC. 2. now for the 'normal' area channels of abc, cbs, nbc you pay extra and get them in your area. if out of your area, like stated, you just call and tell them where you are. I did this with dish all the time. The FCC did not stop DNS. DirecTV still offers the "Distant Network Service" (DNS) that supplies either east or west coast major network stations to qualified subscribers. Dish subscribers had a DNS service from a third party company available until the provider dropped the service a few years ago. Technically Correct - The FCC still allows Direct TV to offer DNS services because they do not offer local TV to all 210 markets in the US. They have now crossed the 90% threshold. Dish has offered all 210 markets for a little over 2 years. So wherever you are parked, with DISH you get the locals assigned to that market. All include a station from the the big 4 networks. Orphan counties (where a county is assigned to an out of state TV market) is another nightmare buried in this topic. These rules will changed and updated by the FCC by early September 2015. Yes I am due service now and will get the flush done in next couple weeks. I do not do my own but will have nearby shop do. I also have them drain, flush refill with new tranny fluid each 50,000 miles. I know that is above Ford recommendations but my last Ford tranny ran 280,000 trouble free miles. The cost of that is much less than a transmission rebuild. Towing in this heat, we go to Florida some, getting clean fresh fluid in every 50,000 miles I feel it is pretty cheap insurance. Some of you may think it is a waste of dollars - if so fine that is your opinion.Re: What is the current state of big 3 diesels?I am looking for a FORD truck with a CUMMINGS engine loaded with a ALLISON transmission! Seriously - My 2011 6.7 Lariat King Ranch flipped over 100,000 trouble free miles today - over 25,000 towing 34 FT 5th wheel with total truck & RV load 22,500 lbs. I love the tow haul mode, its downhill braking is exceptional. You have to get above 7% grade for it not to handle the set cruise downhill speed. Have not yet found an uphill grade the cruise does not maintain. It is an absolute towing machine. I get 10.7 MPG towing and around 18 not towing but I live in rolling hills which has a negative impact. Spent 7 weeks in Florida (no hills) and got 22 MPG not towing. The regen is absolutely no issue. I would recommend this diesel engine to anyone. Right now I think it is as good as my old 7.3 which I put 280,000 trouble free miles on.Re: 2011-present 6.7 superduty owners ? 1jeep wrote: Just turned 90k miles on my 2011, only fuel filters, brakes, tires and oil! That also can create a mold (family health) issue. I would be very serious with dealer about getting that leak fixed ASAP. And then when they say it is fixed, I would make sure my unit is exposed to rain every time it rains. And then watch and make sure the leak is fixed. If the dealer drags this thing out, then I would be in direct contact with Jayco and request they either take it back to factory and handle or request them service it at a large nearby Jayco dealer. Another consideration is get educated on your states lemon law. Based upon that education, you may choose to go that route. Even mentioning it, in a professional way, may get your dealers attention.Re: Turbo tax admits their mistake!!They also have problem with Alabama - 16,000 returns potentially fraudulent. See link below. I have loved the product for a number of years. Tried tax cut one year and went back. Have not downloaded this years yet. http://www.al.com/business/index.ssf/2015/02/alabama_department_of_revenue.html#incart_riverRe: Anyone with Regrets after installing Jack Antenna??No issue - installed mine 2 years ago this month. Enjoy the signal strength lights, saves lot of time getting signal dialed in. Installed my own, would do again.
