Up to now I haven't had any need for a braking system in the toad. However, I'm planning a X-ross country trip late this spring that will include California. So now I'm questioning whether spending over 1k for a system is even needed and if so is one of those second hand Brake Buddies on Ebay worth a few hundred dollars or just a waste?Re: Ford Edge, Honda CRV or Jeep Cherokee, which to tow?Just purchased a Safari Cheeta 36' Diesel and a 2010 Honda Fit automatic Transmission that the previous owner towed using a Blue OX Alpha bar. According to him he towed over 8k and never used an aux braking system since the FIT only weighs 2,450 lbs. I do not plan any extreme mountain driving this year (Keys to Jersey Coast) but I'm considering X-country in a year's time. Looking for feedback on necessity/appropriate aux braking options.Re: Returning to RV's after 10 years planning first tripsThanks for all the replies. We have a 2010 FIT that already had the Blue OX base plate installed by the previous owner. It is an automatic. I lived for 18 years in Southern Maryland and know the Delmarva and the Eastern Shore very well. I like the Lancaster ideas, I used to do the dog show circuit pulling a trailer throughout that whole area. We are visiting people in the Philly area so I am looking with that as a center. Appreciate the heads up on the KOA..I would have considered that.Returning to RV's after 10 years planning first tripsHaving just purchased a Safari Cheeta 36' diesel and planning to tow a Honda FIT we are looking forward to our first major trip in June to Maryland and the Philadelphia area. This is our first diesel. I am looking for recommendations for interesting places and good stops. We are thinking of spending some days either near the Delaware Water Gap or on the Jersey Shore (some years ago we had one of our best vacations in our old Bounder at Camp May). I've purchased the Rand McNally GPS and I know the Good Sam trip planner's capabilities but I would love to hear about personal recommendations.
