I've Volunteered there for 1 1/2 Summers and headed there tomorrow. I've had a lot of visitors say they are so glad they visited the West side. Timber Creek CG has lost their trees, but there is a lot to do on the West side. Some great trails, lots of animals, access to the Colorado River, etc.Installing a Window on LP Tank CoverLooking for input on installing a window on LP tank cover. Don't want to just have an opening to check tank switch.Re: Camp Chef Explorer Stove - Accessories?I too bought the Camp Chef to replace an old stove. Mine was a 45+ yo Coleman. So far I'm pleased with the stove. Have to find a larger storage space than I had for the old stove. I haven't encounterred any problem with simmering. I'm interested in following this post to read what others post.Re: RMNP CampgroundsOn the West side of the park there is Timber Creek CG. It's first come-first served. Weekends are pretty full, but during the week there are usually sites available until mid-afternoon. Plenty of trails in the area, and access to the Colrado River. As for time of year, I like it all. Now you would see the baby Elk, Moose, and Deer. In September you'd see and hear the Rut. Summer the nights wouldn't be quite as cool.Re: Water TreatmentThanks for the responses. My coffee and pasta should taste betterWater TreatmentWhere I'll be Volunteering this Summer the water has Chlorine added. Although lightly, it seems to affect the taste of coffee and pasta. I get the water from the spicot not thru the TT plumbing. Would a Brita or similar filter work?Food with historyFew years ago I was hosting a campground just outside Yellowstone. On my rounds I noticed a very higend MH. On the firegrate were a couple cans of stew heating. My first thought was that the MH might be stolen. Then I noticed the couple standing there were elderly and well dressed. I went over to talk to them. Turned out they were celebrating thier 50th wedding anniversary. Thier honeymoon had been a car trip to Yellowstone and that had been thier food back then.Re: CrockPot CookingLeaving a Crockpot cooking outdoors, unsupervised, might result in a ticket.Re: Interstate vs. secoundary roads? Thanks for the responses. FlipInterstate vs. secoundary roads?I was wondering if driving the interstate using cruise countrol would save much gas verses the slow down, speedup of going thru towns? My truck seems to have a sweetspot towing of 63 mph.
