In that same time period I have stayed in a campground with hookups of any kind a total of one time, and have never stayed where there was asphalt or concrete to set up on. We stay in primitive camp spots in the mountains or non developed spots at the lake which is why we got the truck camper. The wife and I can load or unload our 20 foot boat just as easy with or without the camperRe: Comparing ATV tiresI actually did wear out a set of bighorns on my Polaris Rzr, after 2500 miles. I put on a set of GBC Grim Reapers and so far (only one ride)like them. They were a little cheaper, still 6 ply and about the same weight. Will have to see how they last before saying they are a great tire.Re: Snowed in, ready for Spring!!Year to date we are over 64 inches and two stints of over 30 below zero. Been living with it for over 50 years, just learned to ski, snowmobile, ice fish, etc. Once you learn to deal with it, it can be a lot of fun. Besides it kills the bugs and is way better than tornados, 110 degrees, and huge crowds of people. Oh yeah, and sinkholes that eat corvettes!Re: Rhino FrameCamo, I am still running mine, but only around the farm. I use it to plow snow, build fence and haul "stuff". It has over 4,000 miles on the original motor and still going strong. Now have a Rzr 800 for going to the mountains. You need to convince RRhino to come back to Montana and go for a ride sometime.Re: Heater questionsMaybe the brick was an attempt at making the furnace fan quieter by reducing vibration???Re: 05-07 Rhinos Advice needed.I would have to look at both, but sand is a big enemy to these things if not maintained. It will kill clutches and engines if the filter is not kept clean so I would lean toward the high desert one with everything being equal as it probably didn't work any harder because it wasn't pulling hard in the deep sand all its life. I also have an 06 660 and it has over 4000 miles on it. Never been in the desert so just dusty mountain trails and mud and plowing snow, but with good maint. the only thing I have done is to replace the seal in the rear diferential, installed a hunterworks CDI so reverse worked better and it starts easier, replaced the belt once, and mounted the winch and snowplow. It has been a great workhorse and was purchased new in 06. It still plows snow and works around the farm but play duties have been taken up by a Polaris RZR.Re: Chain up questionGrowing up in the mountains of MT I have driven many miles with chains on and put them on in many interesting situations. In an empty pickup, chaining the front will provide the most traction and also do the most damage to the front end components. Tie rod ends, CV joints, CV boots and ball joints take a bunch of abuse when bouncing and jerking around looking for traction on a 4X4 vehicle. When loaded with a camper I would chain the rear outside, if you have single chains or purchase a set of dual chains designed for dual wheels, as the heavier loaded axle will then have the best traction and put the least wear and tear on your vehicle. I have torn up a few front ends by chaining only the front of a 4X4 and never done it when chained all the way around, but make sure the chains are tight and check them often to keep them tight. I think the best advice when hauling the camper is stay home or pull in somewhere for a day or two until the storm is over the road has be plowed and sanded, besides I never need an excuse to spend a few more days camping!Re: Long bed TC on a short bed?I have a long bed and it sure seemed like there were more shortbed campers for sale when we were shopping. Our old rig was a shortbed Chev. with a 6.5' box and we carried an 8.5' S&S with no problems. Went with the longbed when we wanted a little more room and still be able to tow a trailer.Re: Money is No Object-- What's your combo, Where are You Going?Something along the Earthroamer lines because I am going where there are no motels and stay there as long as I want!Re: Truck Camper gone WrongHow about a slide for easier "departure", and a lift gate on the back to get me up there in the first place!
