Happy New Year.Re: Suburan furnace?Totally agree with Ex-Tech re: using a cracked heat exchanger after repair...but wife just had surgery, woke up the day after she came home and RV was 43 degrees. R&R furnace, found crack, brazed and had heat in an hour. Truly think I have found the original cause. Poor airflow. Absolutely the worse furnace set up I have ever seen. Forest River is NOT with the program. Currently NOT using the in-floor system. Right off the front of furnace: 114 degrees and RV is the warmest it has ever been. Single digits most nights lately. Infrared heater in master BR and bath:)))))Re: Temperature in the garageIF you really are going to Winter camp, throw the belly plastic away and truly insulate the entire TH. I posted full details on the post entitled "insulate my TH". 1000watt infrared $50 heater will keep garage very warm...and cheaply...IF you are plugged in. On YOUR gen set: that is another issue:))))) I still have an issue with my Dometic digital thermostat in myCyclone 3950. Temp variance is huge before furnace re=ignites. Keep us posted.Re: Insulating the TH floor...Welding is easier...until you have to pull a panel. I suspect a grinder would cut the weld ...but then it looks like something an RV MFG might try:))))))))))))))))) My DeWalt cordless put my self-tapper screws in easily...and it looks awesome. A little overkill, but I caulked each piece where there is the 3/4 inch raised lap. No mouse is going to get inside my TH:)))))))Re: Insulating the TH floor...Cut 1.5 inch styrofoam for sides of I-beam, then 1.5 inch sheets to sit on bottom edge of Ibeam from side-to-side. Threw the black belly sheets away and used ProPanel II steel roofing with fender washers and self-tapping screws. Removed the spare tire and its frame work to justify the added weight of steel. Roofing weighed less:)))) BUT: on my new Cyclone 3950...had to relocated wiring, water lines, gas lines, etc.etc upwards in order to accommadate the 1.5 sheets across the bottom. Drilled hole in bottom of kitchen sink and dropped a thermostat sensor so I can monitor the actual temp of my "new basement". It is always8-10 degrees warmer than coach AND my floors are warm. Still NOT happy with my digital thermostat for my furnace. 5-8 degrees drop before furnace decides to "fire up" A true PITA when snowmobiling in MI.Re: Suburan furnace?lAST set of brushes in the motor got so hot, they were melted to the armature. I have read about adding another duct. Did put heat to my water manifold bay off main trunk, but I surely can add another. Plan to replace the dual stage regulator this AM, then move to the big propane tank and replace that one also. THX ...again everybody. Have a great TG. Johnny in chilly Iowa 23 degrees currently.Re: Toy hauler under belly constructionOur 2012 3950 Cyclone has no factory belly "cardboard". There was no insulation, unless you consider the black plasic below the plywood as insulation. 3 3-inch holes cut on bottom side of main heat trunk...but the way the belly "hangs down"...guarantee it will not keep the tanks from freezing. I threw the belly cardboard away. 1.5inch styrofoam on inside edge of the Ibeams, then 1.5 inch styrofoam with ProPanel II steel panels screwed to bottom of I beams. Dropped a remote thermostat sensor into basement: usually 8-10 degrees warmer than the living quarters:))))))Re: Suburan furnace?Thx. I needed some humor in my life. I knew there had to be a simple solution: Winter in TX...OR...anywhere where I can ride my trike year round:)))Re: Suburan furnace?Thx to you two: Will have my propane guy check regulator at the tank (which was just filled). Just had one weird thought: Regulator at 500 gallon tank, line to RV into switch over valve, which I think may be another regulator...which should create some pressure problems IF I remember my propane knowledge. Will also call my local furnace expert and ask him IF my thinking is correct OR faulty??? Thx again, guys. Happy TG. Johnny in chilly Iowa.Suburan furnace?Six year old Surburan 42K BTU. Replaced computer board once and blower motor 3 times. Noticed last night it seems the high limit switch is acting up. During a normal cycle, burner will ignite on and off several times. Once RV is up to pre-set temp, furnace will NOT come on until I switch thermostat off, then on....so when I got up this AM...it was really chilly. Thank goodness for some cheap electric heaters:)) BTW: Had to braze a crack in heat exchanger last time the motor went south. You furnace gurus will probably suggest: buy/install a new one. When its 10 below zero, it runs 24/7...and 12-volt motors can NOT handle that kind of use...right??? THX and have a great Thanksgiving. Johnny...currently in Iowa.
