It was burned to a crisp from the hood and back of the front fenders to the rear bumper. Bought it for the motor and transmission. Was disappointed to find when we got it back to the shop, it had a nice hole in the block and a couple of rods poking out. Transmission was hung in first. Only then did we notice the nice tow tags on the front end. Lucky he didn't burn the MH to the ground as well. Must have got it disconnected quick!Re: Which Shocks?I liked the monroes on my p30.Re: Cracked Windshield - need help please!Front glass is laminated not tempered. That's why the whole thing didn't shatter with the rock chip. LRe: Do you like your jacknife sofa?Like mine in either position. LesRe: Why switch to a Residential Refrig, thinking out loud !!Not being plugged in doesn't mean being without electricity 8-) Absorption fridge lets me use limited electrons for other things. If mine failed tomorrow, I'd look hard at the solar/residential combination vs the absorption. Cost and battery maintenance etc being key points. But never without enough solar to cover the energy usage.Re: Charging Batteries With GeneratorYep, I have one. Very nice tool. There are means to determine SOC using voltage, temp and load, but then again you'd need a meter to determine load. If voltage is all he has he'll have to make an educated guess. He can always adjust that run time when he sees results. The assumption was that he would charge using the grid when he could and use the generator when he couldn't. In that case 50% to 80% is the place he'd want to be while off grid. The generator is no less capable of that last few percent, it just isn't worth the run time... thus 50-80%.Re: Why switch to a Residential Refrig, thinking out loud !!Sorry guys... "large motorhomes" are not the center of the RV universe even if we think so in this forum. There are many of us who like to CAMP not park in a full service parking lot, and many of the high demand areas have no electricity and thankfully strong generator run restrictions. The majority of campers in these parks don't have generators. I have no doubt a residential fridge is nice if you stay plugged in or "boondock" in the walmart for a night. I'm talking about a week or two off the grid, running the gen maybe three hours total during that time. Yes it can be done quietly with an absorption fridge. Only possible with a good solar powered residential fridge setup. Solar is tempting so I can reduce that gen time to zero. So again "Don't bet on absorption fridges being "history" any time soon."Re: Why switch to a Residential Refrig, thinking out loud !!Don't bet on it. Non generator trailers outnumber us 10 to 1 so I'm thinking absorption will be around for awhile. And as a lover of the sights and sounds of the outdoors vs Mr Onan, I hope they do.Re: Charging Batteries With Generator50% discharge (-300ah) wouldn't take 300 hours. 6 hours if you could keep it at 50 amps. More like 8 considering you wont be in bulk mode on the last 20%. Key is to make your charging be "bulk" charging. You don't want to be below 50% SOC and you will be in acceptance charge above about 80% SOC. So with a 100A charger and a 600ah battery bank two hours should get you from 50% to 80%. 80 to 100% can take a while and is not a very efficient use of diesel or genny time. LesRe: Staying in parking lots??I do it occasionally as a favor to those who like to sleep at the "campground." I like to drive till late hours and there's nothing I hate more than to be in a full service rv parking lot and have the neighbor pull in at midnight (and then leave the toy hauler floods on.) If I'm traveling and off the road before dark I'm in rv park. Otherwise I'm in the WM. If I'm truly camping or a destination RV park I'm always in early. Les
