We retired at 58 and 55 with more quite a bit more that 60K and sometimes we find ourselves worrying about future needs. DH has a great pension retirement for all our day to day needs and entertainment. We don't regret retiring early!Re: Semi retirement guilt You opinion M GO BLUE wrote: Water-Bug wrote: You're right, you should feel guilty for only semi-retiring, when you probably have enough money to retire completely. :) x2 ...so you are semi-retiring and only have $60,000 total in retirement funds to live on the rest of your life? I wanted to do this (or even the nice lino that looks like plank wood) - however, what happens where the slide and floor "meet" when the slide is out? How does it look. Can someone please post pictures? Thanks!Re: "QuartzSite"-? What's the attraction???? 96Bounder30E wrote: one word.......... cheap tools! It doesn't get any better: Hmmmm .... I enjoy a nice campfire, even "some" lights outside (not enough to light up the entire campground) ... and I manage to have anything I want for breakfast. Biscuits, gravy, eggs, ham, sausage, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, cereal - you name it. Not sure how losing the bright lights and big campfire would necessarily increase the quality and/or safety of my life. Not sure how an impressive breakfast fits in with that either. I was able to fix just as impressive a breakfast while camping in a tent and cooking over the fire or on a coleman stove (before we moved up to the "east side" - it was a gradual move, PUP, TT, entry 5ver and now a larger 5ver). This thread has been somewhat entertaining - but also just positive proof that there are a lot of selfish people in the world. Thank you "motorcycle jack" for the information that it *can* be done. However, I'm not sure that it would be financially feasible for us to have someone do it - and we are not mechanically inclined enough to handle something like this. :E?? RE: Slide switch ....We recently purchased a 2002 Cardinal WBLX. When looking at the rig the first time, the owner opened both slides and we were satisfied that all was functional. After the deal was made, but prior to picking up the unit (we were going to have it inspected), we went back to look it over again. At that time, we realized that only one switch operates both slides. The bedroom slide goes out first and then the living area slide. Regardless of the position of the slides, it ALWAYS opens the BR slide completely before it will move the LR slide. Example: You are bringing in the slides (BR is already in and closed tight), the LR slide starts in and you realize you didn't move the throw rug. You need to move the LR slide back out about 1 inch or so in order to pick up the rug - you can't do it until the BR slide is completed out. Having one switch to operate both slide is just a dumb idea to me. My question is this: Has anyone else ever had this situation and had the switch rewired so that there are two switches? Is it even possible? And if it is possible, is it financially feasible? Thanks in advance for your help.Re: Never seen this one before DWolfrom wrote: WOW!! I never thought things would get this stirred up! I want to make a couple points...when I said a tub, I meant a 30-40 gallon Sterilite tub. I look at it as being the same as running a hose to within 15-20' of his campsite and draining my gray water tank. I decided to keep my mouth shut and talked to the guy some and let him conduct his business the way he saw fit.:) WHOA.......... that puts another whole light on the subject. That is absolutely crazy. Shouldn't be washing dishes at the spigot at all, but if he did it that way.... You're nicer than me if you didn't say anything. There are many things that you learn over the years. 5 gallon water jugs at the camp so you have water available in your own site, a normal size dishpan to wash dishes (done at your own campsite) ---- these are just two of the things hopefully he will learn. Where was momma?Re: Never seen this one beforeWhile I agree with the OP that it is inconsiderate as well as unsanitary for the dishes to be washed, teeth brushed, "bathing" done, etc at the spigot, I am a bit confused about some of the things that have been posted. As someone who has actually had a bear break into a TT, I totally understand the worries about attracting bears into a campsite. HOWEVER, exactly how are tent campers supposed to dispose of their gray water other than throw it out into the trees (or whatever landscaping is around)? :h We have tent camped and we have camped in a small PUP that had no bathroom and such a small sink that sometimes I would heat water on the stove and wash the dishes in a dishpan out on the table rather than inside. I always walked away from the camp (and other camps as well) a few yards and tossed the water. If the bathrooms were "vault" toilets, where were we to brush our teeth? I would take a glass of water, my toothbrush with toothpaste - walk away from the camp a bit, brush my teeth, spit (yes, spit) into the bushes or on the ground, rinse my mouth, rinse my toothbrush in the remaining water and dump it on the ground. And some of you have had the audacity to tell me I couldn't do that? WOW ---- reckon how the pioneers did it when they crossed this great land in covered wagons. Through the years, we have been fortunate enough to have moved up from tent, PUP, TT and are now on our 2nd 5ver. I have seen just as many inconsiderate MH, TT, and 5ver owners as I have tent campers. Again - I'm NOT saying it was okay for the man to have his children wash the dishes at the spigot - but I AM saying some of you need to cut people some slack!
