I mentioned to my agent that I would be setting it up down at the beach and that I may still pull it from time to time and he said to leave my insurance as it was. I need to double check to make sure what is covered. I ended up buiding concrete block piers for all four corners and it is by far more stable than with just the scissors down. I can still remove the front two pillars and pull it out in less than an hour no problem. I hard plumbed the sewer and it was a breeze as well, plus I can unhook it in a matter of minutes. For about 3 hours of work, it was worth it to me to have a more stable setup. Now my kids can jump around like a bunch of monkeys and me not feel like the camper is about to flip over.Re: Setting up for 1 year.... game plan questions???10-4... campground won't let me use my regular hose, has to be hard plumbed on the septic... I guess I should have stated that earlier...Setting up for 1 year.... game plan questions???I am setting up my Jayco 16BH at the beach for a 1 year stay. I have studied the forums and have come up with the following game plan and want to see if I'm on track. I plan to leave weight on the tires but place them on 2x8 pressure treated lumber with shingles turned upside down between the tires and lumber. I was going to build pillars under each scissor jack such that they are fully retracted when the camper is at finish level. I plan on using cinder blocks, pressure treated plywood, and cement pavers to build 16" x 16" pillars and achieve desired height at each corner of the camper. Will also build a small pillar to set tongue jack on. Water line, power cord and cable coax is required to be buried 6" underground to enable campground staff to mow & weedeat around campers. I will also hard plumb my septic using 3" PVC. My main concern is the pillars and setup of the camper.. I need to be able to pull it out in case of approaching hurricane but also maintain a solid as possible foundation. Also if anybody has any suggestions for someone going from pulling a camper to semi permanent setup, I would love to hear those. Thanks in advance..Re: Eastern NC up to Quarryville, PAWhere do I pick up 81 at?Eastern NC up to Quarryville, PAWe are taking the kids up to the Amish country and to the local Jellystone there in Quarryvill, PA in June.. I've not pulled a camper up that way and most of the route is I-95 and the other 95's up thru or around Richmond, VA, Washington DC and Baltimore, MD.. The fastest route shows a toll road also. Can anybody give me some pointers for this route?Re: Awning use @ beach???Thanks everybody for the suggestions.. I'm probably going to err on the side of safety.Awning use @ beach???We have a couple beach trips coming up soon to Emerald Isle in NC and then Edisto Beach State Park in SC. How do you manage your awning in windy environment such as the beach? I have the straps that putl the awning tight to the side frame. Any other tips would be much appreciated...Re: WD Hitch (3rd chain link or 4th chain link)The 3300 lbs is the weight of the TV front axle unhooked from the TT and also with the TT hooked up and on the 5th link... Exact same weight.. Ultimately the weights should be taken with the rig loaded and ready. I just had time today and went ahead and worked on the hitch. The front wheel well on the TV measured within 1/4" also of the unhooked measurement. I also had to shorten the cams just a little so they would ride in the right spot on the WD bars..Re: WD Hitch (3rd chain link or 4th chain link)Well my TV had to go in the shop so I'm going to be pulling with my dad's truck this weekend. He has the 6 speed trans other than that they are similar. I did not have the TT loaded as if I was going camping, I just adjusted the WD hitch by changing the angle of the ball such that I can level out my bars. After doing so, the tension on the 6th link felt like the tension on the 4th link prior to adjusting the ball angle. And the 5th link felt like the 3rd link previously... So here are the weight results: Truck weighs 3300 front axle 2540 rear axle 5840 total for TV 5th LINK 3300 front axle TV 3020 rear axle TV 4980 TT axles 11,300 TOTAL 6th LINK 3180 front axle TV 3240 rear axle TV 4860 TT axles 11,300 TOTAL So by putting the bars on the 5th link the front axle gets the exact amount of weight distributed back to it. However, I think I'm still going to run it on the 6th link to start with and see how it tows. We have about a 5 hour run this weekend so I should get a good feel for it. 5th LINK PICTURES 6th LINK PICTURES Re: Tire pressures while towing ttHave you checked to make sure the right side tires have not been rotated and possibly the RR tire monitor is now on the RF or vice versa for the left side. just throwing that out there... I could see both drive tires gaining 4 psi before I could one rear and the opposite front tire...
