I take a can of WD-40 and spray where the bars go into the hitch, the end of the bars where they may contact the frame, the chains up and down and chain hooks on the snap up brackets, and pretty much every place where metal meets metal and the sounds instantly stop. I have to do it maybe two or three times a year.Re: aftermarket towing mirrorsI bought some aftermarket mirrors from eBay for my dodge, I believe the brand is koolvue? The first two arrived broken in the box. The seller quickly sent two more. When i installed them I noticed the tint on one was dark for some reason, and the mirror was refectling strangly. When on object moved across it it kind of bumped up and down almost like it was wavy. The seller replaced that one. I've had them for about 5 years now with no problems. Easy to mount, didn't need an extra wiring harness like some had said, and a fraction of factory mirrors cost. Research the seller before you purchase and make sure they have a good return policy. Go with one with a lot of sales and a good reting.Re: descending steep drivewayAttach some heavy duty casters to the rear, I have seen that on some trailersRe: This is interesting....This was parked in the same spot for 3 or 4 days. One night there was a couple guys working on the trailer on the passenger side near the wheels. I thought there was no way this truck could possibly tow that load, I started thinking and arguing with myself trying to figure it out lol...and I thought maybe the TV broke down and they just had that truck hooked up so no one thought it was abandoned? But then I thought why wouldn't the weight of the trailer be sitting on a block...maybe they didn't have a block? But then how did they get the trailer off the original TV.....its in a Home Depot parking lot, if they needed a block they could just walk in and buy one? Now that others have mentioned it, that boat does look way to big for that trailer.....the whole thing is a disaster!!This is interesting....Now I've never towed a boat before, and I don't want to be that "weight police guy", and I'm not exactly sure what's going on here....but that looks like a whole lot of boat, and not a whole lot of truck? Re: Air Bags and WD hitchI set up the bars and then air up the bags. Before I had the bags I used to go 5 links on the chains, now I go four. I don't go to a certain pressure, I just put in enough to stiffen up the rear end. I let it raise the rear end an inch or two. I've logged about 9,000 miles with this method, emergency braking, actually sliding, wind, driving 80-85 mph, it works great for my set up.Re: Break Away CableThey hooked the cable to a chain link?? That is most def not right. The cable should be hooked to the frame of the truck separate from hitch assembly.Re: More Questions on Backing Up with Trailer???As others have said practice, practice, practice. Open parking lots, behind stores into loading docks. Good mirrors are a must, I started out with those clip on ones that weren't that great. I upgraded to aftermarket "factory" mirrors and things got a lot easier. Backing up straight is difficult, just have to go slow and make minor corrections as you go. Someone mentioned the scoop method, look it up it helped me considerably.
