I'm going to try that. I'll get some pictures and post back on Thursday. @Racerx11 - This place is much MUCH larger than the Reddit group I posted to and much MUCH more knowledgeable but I figured it wouldn't hurt anything to post in both places. :)External plumbing question - Dump manifoldWe bumped a stump with the PVC manifold used for dumping the holding tanks and the slip hub (pvc flange) between the dump valve and the black tank was broken. Basically the ears where the bolts go through to attach the valve were snapped off. When I took this apart I was expecting to have to cut the pipe coming out of my black tank but to my surprise, and delight, the slip hub was held on and sealed by some kind of rubber-ish caulking. After years of outside use the stuff was still pretty rubbery and pliable and it's natural color was a brightish white. It was most definitely NOT any type of silicone caulk. It made getting the assembly apart much better than cutting it so I'd like to put it back the way I found out. Does anyone have an idea what kind of caulking it was?Re: Great weekend but... (help!) RJsfishin wrote: I couldn't see anything that a chalking gun wouldn't fix. But no silicone please ! You don't see the 4" hunk of aluminum railing that's been ripped away? I'll get some better pictures, these ones must not be good enough.Re: Great weekend but... I'll look for screws, dunno how I would have missed 'em the first time but hey...thanks for the help!Great weekend but... (help!)It was a great weekend for camping and four wheeling in the Shoshone National Forest but I've got some fresh damage. Windstorm ripped my awning right at the TH. Grrrr. How do I remove whats left of the material from the TH so I can replace it? I've tried to force it out one side but it seems to take far more push than I can have. Is there some trick to this I'm missing? Worse the TH got tangled in a tree (don't ask) and partially pulled the front cap away from the TH body. How do you fix this? Switched to 17s...love it!My truck came with factory chromed steel 16s but since I bought it used the wheels didn't quite match and it's always bugged me. I lucked into a good deal on a set of factory Chevy alloy 17s so I jumped. So I went from 235/85/16 to 285/70/17, which have almost exactly the same height, and wow what a difference it made in ride quality and handling! Truck doesn't feel like its bouncing along on balloons anymore! I finally got to tow the TH with them on and its the same deal, truck feels more planted and handles so much nicer. I'm sure it has to do with the shorter sidewall. If you have the chance...do it!Re: Trailer brakes issues jamnw wrote: This is great info. Does anyone have links to a good crimper and connectors? I'm not currently having any issues but my OEM connectors are junk. These are what you're after for connectors. http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-3M-Heat-Shrink-Butt-Connector-Terminal-Marine-Wire-Waterproof-Perma-/281162098882?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item41769128c2&vxp=mtr Crimp those bad boys on with a crimp tool you can buy at Radio Shack and away you go! For extra double plus good connections use heat shrink tubing over the top of those and you'll never have a water / corrosion issue!Re: Which Year Suburban 2500?Oh, and as for the older (classic) with the 8.1 it's not going to be much better. Here's a copy of the capacities page from the owners manual of an '05. http://chevroletforum.com/forum/attachments/tahoe-suburban-25/5705d1374424408-need-help-w-towing-capacities-2005-suburban-2500-2005-burb-owners-manual-jpg Sorry it's so small and blurry, it's a rehost from another website. In 2005 the 2500 'Burb with the 8.1 had a max trailer weight of 10,300 and a payload of 2500ish. Those numbers are still very close, some would say TOO close, to what you're actually wanting to do. IMHO you shouldn't do this. I don't think you're going to be happy with it if you do.Re: Which Year Suburban 2500?If I followed all that correctly your hitch weight is 2,000 lbs or more. The 2013 2500 'Burb has a payload capacity of 2100ish. http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/suburban/2013/features-specs.html?style=200427774 You're going to right at the payload limit before you add any passengers or luggage! Max Towing is listed as 9400lbs and you're trailer is very close to that with a GVWR of 9,000. On paper your trailer and expected load is too much for the 2500 Series Suburban. With that said if you decide to move forward on it I can make you a lowball offer on your diesel truck! ;) (FWIW I think the 2500 would do it but I don't think you'd be happy coming from a D/A combo).Re: can my truck pull my RV?? newbieI live where you're headed. If you have problems when you get here look me up.
