Would it be worth my time to tape it with some aluminum tape or just leave it be?Re: New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60Thanks for all the great advice and suggestions, everyone!!! I picked up a limit switch and swapped it out. Also changed all the floor registers to a design that is less restrictive than the originals, and then plumbed in an additional duct off of the furnace (pics). The furnace sits directly behind the panel where I installed the white fixture. I drilled the door and installed a vent so that they line up when the door is closed. Works perfectly and it got up to 72 degrees within about 15 minutes or so (that's just where I had the thermostat set - I'm sure I could go warmer if I wanted). Its 32 outside right now. This morning when it was 35, I couldn't get it past about 60-62 even after it had literally been running non-stop all night long. Y'all are awesome! Now, off to pack for a short maiden voyage this weekend... Re: New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60 Old-Biscuit wrote: Do you get roughly same air flow out ot all the ducts? Crushed flex ducting? Anything surrounding furnace that would restrict air return flow? Same air flow from all ducts - and its strong flow compared to my previous two campers. There is absolutely nothing obstructing airflow around the furnace itself. I even took all of the registers off of the vents (just to maximize air flow) and removed both access panels to the compartment where the furnace is... no change in the problem. I'm on my way to pick up a limit switch right now, to at least eliminate that as a potential problem even though the camper is brand new. Fingers crossed -- I really wanted to go boondocking this weekend!!!Re: New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60 myredracer wrote: Can't find furnace specs for that model. What does whatever info you have say it should be? Never, ever trust what an RV dealer tells you. I called Keystone and was told the 20k btu furnace is what this unit is supposed to have. Stupid, because they put a 30k in all of their 5th wheels... none of which have the square footage of this TT.Re: New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60So I pulled the rear panel off the unit -- its an SF-20FQ... which pisses me off because I specifically asked two different people at the dealership and was told it had a 30,000 btu furnace. :-\ Anyway, this is a 37' long camper with 3 slides -- is this just simply not enough furnace for me?Re: New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60 wasatchmtnatvr wrote: Please post model number of furnace. This is important. Either furnace hitting high limit switch which cause an open circuit, which deletes power to circuit board, ceasing flame operation, and flame will shut off. When limit cools contacts close, causing power to circuit board, 24 seconds later, flame will re-appear. When this sequence occurs you feel cooler air than hot , but it will not be cool air. Cause, inadequate air flow usually caused by not enough heat discharge ducts for furnace to vent heat out, or breathe. If soft ducting you should have a minimum of 4 full size tubes coming off of furnace shell and registers fully open at discharge within interior. Virtually every furnace will work better if you can install an additional discharge warm air duct. Its a Suburban, but I cant find a specific model number in any of my documentation or visually on the unit itself. Any tips on how to identify it? I think it might be an SF-30FQ, which the book says should have a minimum of three 4" ducts... Its got three 4" ducts coming off the back and two smaller 2-2.5" ducts coming off of one side (with spots to add two more ducts on the other side). I even removed the floor vents so the air flow was totally unrestricted. The fan seems to be pushing a strong amount of air at all of the vents.Re: New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60 MudChucker wrote: Anything restricting the air flow ? Does the furnace kick off before the temps on the thermostat is reached ? Enclosed underbelly ? Enclosed underbelly (no gaps). Nothing at all restricting air flow. If I move the thermostat below the inside temp, the unit will cycle off as normal... burner shuts off then a short time later the fan stops. But with the thermostat set between 65-70 the fan runs constantly and as I mentioned, it seems as if the burner cycles on/off occasionally. Propane tanks are full and if I light all three stove burners while the furnace is running, they all burn at what seems to be 'normal', which makes me think its not the regulator.New Cougar - Furnace wont heat above 60Just took delivery of a brand new Cougar 33SAB travel trailer. For some reason the furnace will not heat the inside of the unit to more than about 58-60 degrees... its been about 25 degrees overnight. This is my third camper and I've always been able to heat to 70+ at temps well below 25 outside. Fan seems to be pushing an appropriate amount of air, it just seems like the air coming out isn't as warm as I'm used to. Also, it seems as though every few minutes it'll blow cooler air for a while and then go back to somewhat warmer. Help? Really not wanting to wait weeks for a warranty appointment. :-\ Thanks in advance!Keystone / Courgar "Polar Package" Experiences???Just traded out of a Laredo 5th wheel that I had finally gotten set up well for winter boondocking in the Rocky Mountains. Had it down to -15 degrees overnight a few times had had no issues with freezing lines or tanks. The new unit is a '16 Cougar 33SAB with their "Polar Package" which the literature and dealer both say is good down to zero degrees -- I'm skeptical... ...I did visually confirm that there is an actual vent blowing directly into the underbelly from the furnace, which makes me feel a little better. I've ensured that the enclosed underbelly is indeed sealed all the way around. I'm just curious if anyone has any real world experience with the 'Polar Package'? Thanks in advance!Re: Your Favorite Boondocking Pics monakayk wrote: OK---been awhile since I posted some of our latest boondocking photos. We went camping in June below...located up near Red Feathers Lake, CO. NO one around....loooved our peaceful time here! Thats a great area too. I've never camped right around Red Feather, but I've driven/explored the area quite a bit. I have camped way out on the west end of Dead Man Road which goes between Red Feather and CR 103 (Laramie River Road)... lots of great spots out that way too. We're headed up again on Friday and will be up through the following week -- way excited! :-)
