Water and 50amp and the site that Navion is sitting in looks level and long. Is there a length limit? Thanks for sharing that. That Navion is backed in on a average size electric-only "tent" site. All of the "RV" (water) sites are pull-through. The map is up on the website: http://www.nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/camping.htm The largest pull-throughs look massive (80' ?) while the smallest all look big enough to handle 30' TT.Re: Acadia National Park - New Campgroundhttp://www.schoodicinstitute.org/campground/ The opening ceremony is next week, just in time for Labor Day and leaf season.Re: Parking near BostonA truck and a hybrid camper, you've got more options and I wouldn't limit yourself to an MBTA parking lot or unhitching at an RV park. Fenway, USS Constitution have oversize vehicle / tour bus lots you could probably get into. Or you could probably just park on street in the seaport/world trade center area. Maybe Assembly Row or the Home Depot near it. Of course your rig won't be much bigger than the u-haul/ryder truck rentals that get double parked all over town before labor day, so you might be able to just blend in.Re: Not a big enough trailer Luv'nCamp'n wrote: Trading up on a bunkhouse is not an option due to the damage. So we have tossed around the idea of taking the master bedroom and converting it to a bunk room. We are not afraid of diy, we have built houses, and extensive high end remodels. My question is for the "very knowledgeable on all things RV related forum members" are we crazy to think this is acceptable? Friend of a friend ended up pulling the sofa and putting in a triple bunk. Only needed it for about 3 years and then just put the sofa back in. Worked out well for them, and much less work/impact than a remodel of the master. Plus, you get to keep the master (and it's door).Re: 4 week northeast trip suggestions July 2015"less tourist and more scenic places" in Maine, you may want to add the Schoodic section of Acadia and Mt Katahdin to your list. Both places are not nearly as busy as Acadia in and around Bar Harbor. Katahdin of course has some Appalachian Trail you could scratch off your bucket list. Be sure to swim in the river along the Kancamangus!Re: Weighing Small Trailer at Scales QFamCA wrote: Any whoo if I take it to the scales do I weight only the trailer on the scale? Meaning pull past scale with truck and only have the single trailer Axel on? In my opinion, you don't care about just the trailer - you care about the whole picture, and you don't need to do any unhitching and separate measurements unless you're really curious. Take your loaded truck and trailer to the scales. You'll get (3) weights (steer axle, drive axle, and cargo (TT) axle). Cargo axle needs to come in under 3500. Steer and drive axles need to come in under whatever the sticker on your driver side door panel says their respective GAWR ratings are. The GVWR 3800 and GAWR 3500 are assuming up to 300lb can be loaded on the tongue weight. If you're close to the limit and just trying to figure out if you're overweight that 300lb, go ahead and use a bathroom scale in your dooryard instead of driving to the scales.Re: towing with familyMy Suburban(+family +fuel) and similar 6500# trailer top over 12000# combined weight. The only way to know for sure is to take it all to the scales and see, but probably simplest just to take two cars.Re: EZ pass avafluty wrote: talk to someone to help me decide if we need one. You don't "need" one; but it is very convenient as it allows you to avoid congestion at the toll booths. Sometimes, the tolls are taken in dedicated lanes that travel at 65mph. As others mentioned, order it from any state. If you want to save a buck or two, NH doesn't charge sales tax.Re: Help us finalize our smaller A purchase decision! This wasn't in your list, but when you get closer to 30' it opens up bunkhouse floor plans. e.g. Winnebago Itasca Sunstar 31BE. For travel seating, in your past experience has it worked OK with both of them seated at the (belted) dinette? To get quad captain chairs or front facing sofa, you might need to customize.Re: US 1 in Maine BillMFl wrote: North of Portland there are very few sand beaches and Belfast is way inland from the actual coast. We have a summer place on the water in East Boothbay and a 43' Trawler for cruising the coast. No offense, but this gave me a chuckle. :) While US-1 in Belfast isn't as damp as the swim platform on your trawler, I think to call it "way inland from the actual coast" is a bit of an overstatement. Belfast has 10' tides and everything! Yes, US-1 bypasses all of the peninsulas with good reason, and I would never recommend towing a 5th wheel into every nook and cranny just to hit the highlights. If you tow down one of them be sure to spend the night or two. Both Camden Hills (electric) and Cobscook (no services) are lovely state parks for exploring their respective regions, both via US-1.
