All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRatings guideI apologize for misplacing this info posted on my site....but I did. It was in reference to finding a non-biased ratings/review guide. I believe this comes out once a year. Any answers for me. I promise not to loose it this time. I also just may have trouble with finding my old info on this site:( ThxRe: Still in the MH hunt for the first timeOk.....these posts have been very helpful., so don't take this post the wrong way. We almost pulled away from the idea of buying a MH not really understanding how much (average) it would cost to be an owner, especially of a diesel (which is what we were considering). We are aware it's a pricey step, but we're confused about exactly what it means to not be faint of heart, etc. Can anyone share what they feel is a fair idea of an annual maintenance amount ( regular maintenance for a year, without unexpected repairs). We know things will happen along the way that will be above and beyond this. And if we buy new, aren't there warranties to cover major parts for awhile? I would certainly appreciate your input. Thank you.Re: Still in the MH hunt for the first timeI'm appreciating everyone's opinions very much. Those of you already living the hi-life must've thought about some of the same. I think overall opinions give insight, even if different from another. We read each post and discuss the suggestions. Maybe we're snails on making the final decision....but....we're slow and new to the rv life. Slow, but so ready to join you on the open road:) We will order the RV guide and look at ratings. Thx for that suggestion.Still in the MH hunt for the first timeIs diesel the way to go? Better maintenance, or more, compared to gas?Re: Almost embarrassed to ask....The suggestions you all are posting are appreciated ( and amusing Jim Shoe with your Budweiser comment LOL). We're off today to check out a few dealers a couple of hours away. Will also keep our eyes open for used, not to old models. Are inspectors of MH's easy to find? Are there specific certifications we should look for??Re: Almost embarrassed to ask....Oh boy....sounds like owning a boat ( the checkbook comment). Hubby is somewhat handy with tools but no mechanic. He did minor repairs on our boat. I'm sure he'll be up for the challenge.Re: Almost embarrassed to ask....Thank you all for your advice. We have considered renting, and may still. You've given us some other models to consider as well. We are looking at buying new. We had a boat before this so are used to being together in smaller space and the limitations of cargo space. Looking at different coaches is interesting...some do seem to stand out more then others. But how do you get info about a manufacturer being bought out/restructuring? It's the reputation that seems important.Almost embarrassed to ask....Hubby and I, both retired are excited to purchase our first MH soon. We've been looking at TT's, 5th wheels and MH's for over a year. We've decided a motorhome is for us, but now comes the hardest part....which one? We continue to find ourselves drawn to the Phaeton, but have heard some concerns about customer service declining. Then there's the Entegra line which is the other one we like. Both have our favorite floor plan, etc. but chassis's are different. Spartan or Freightliner? How's a newbie to know. I feel like I'm over thinking this at times...,but it's a big investment for us. Salespeople really aren't all that helpful, as their MH is best. I found this site and thought " ah ha!" Opinions galore, but not profit driven! We read and read, but would appreciate your experiences if you have the time to share. So...Tiffin, Entegra, or Fleetwood ( or other recommendations for 40 footers). Please share your thoughts. Thanks you:)
