It looks like a great all day adventure to Mattole beach. Narrow, bumpy, curvy roads often go somewhere with less people and beautiful.Scenic and Adventerous roads around the RedwoodsWe're heading off to explore the Redwoods next week. Heading south along the Washington and Oregon coast into northern California. We have 10 days for this trip with the redwoods being the main focus, planning to explore Crescent City area south maybe to Trinidad, due to time. Hubby is recovering from ankle surgery and has very limited ability to walk so we are planning to spend our days relaxing and exploring by truck. We like to take scenic and adventurous drives, scary curves, back roads, off the beaten path and less traveled routes. We will be driving a F350 4x4 Do you have any ideas? Bring em on!Northern California Redwoods late MarchLooking at heading south to Northern California the last week of March to early April. We'll have 9 days with travel from the Olympic Peninsula in WA. Haven't been to northern California and the Redwoods since we were kids. What are your favorite campgrounds or not to miss places? We don't need hookups and prefer relaxed, quiet parks. Sites amongst huge trees or on the ocean would be perfect. Can't hike anymore but enjoy short level scenic walking trails and fabulous drives. Hoping this early in season things will still be slow. Ideas please!Re: Whats your favorite camprground in Glacier? Thanks for the input, excited to go.Whats your favorite camprground in Glacier? What is your favorite campground in Glacier National Park & why? We have no need for any hookups and travel with a 27' fiver. Last minute planning so we don't have reservations but we wont arrive until after the 4th of July.Re: Towing a 5'r with a 4X4 jerem0621 wrote: OP I like that western hauler you have there! Those are getting rare! Yes, and it is a good truck. Unfortunately it has spent to much of its life in the rust belt and has more issues than I can fix since they replaced my back last year. I no longer bend or lift so maintaining "Galloping Gertie" is not an option any more. Kind of hate to see the old girl go.Re: Towing a 5'r with a 4X4 jerem0621 wrote: OP I like that western hauler you have there! Those are getting rare! Yes, and it is a good truck. If you've done the flip you must have something else going on to only be 58" at the overhang. That's an extremely low 5'er. Do you have 2 or 3 steps to get in the 5'er? Three steps going into the main quarters and two steps up into the nose bedroom. The Crossroads Cruiser is built with a low roof line, only 11'-6" to the top of the AC (highest point) The nose sits lower than many 5'rs. I am also looking at going with 16" wheels with truck tires to give me a couple of more inches. Biggest problem is that I am currently 2500 miles from the Cruiser. We left it back in Wisconsin when we moved to Washington State late last year so I do not have it to make direct comparisons to. Hate to spend all those retirement $$$ on a new truck only to find that I will have to make mods to truck and/or trailer before I can haul it to its new home!Towing a 5'r with a 4X4We are looking for a new (to us)TV and would like to go with a 2500 4x4 crew cab short bed to tow our Cruiser. We are looking in the 2008 to 2011 range and got a Big shock at the height of the rails on these trucks! Fords seem to run about 57 inches and Chevy/GMC or Dodge are hovering in the 60" range. Problem is our 5'r is 58" under the nose and I have already done the axle flip.Surely people must be hauling 5'rs with 4x4's, how is it done? Any advise would be surely appreciated. Thanks Jim DRe: Transporting 5th Wheel cross country- Qustions ?We really don't want to sell it & then turn around and replace it. We have done lots of upgrading and it works well for us.
