Fortunately I had the water pump on and the water line to the icemaker extinguished the fire after being burned through. The unit was on the recall list and fix had been installed but failed to shut down unit to protect against fire hazard. Refrigerator is not salvageable and will need to be replaced. Am now awaiting costs and disposition of damage reimbursements.Re: Opposing Slides Lock BarsThank you all for your advise. I think we will use the lock bars. Perhaps my husband has been extending them too far against the slide-out frame.Re: Opposing Slides Lock Bars RuralAlbertan wrote: You should have the bar up there, it's a safety feature. While under normal circumstances the slide will never move it's always good to protect your investment and the people around you on the highway. You should only be extending the bars until it's snug above the slide, then an extra 1/4 turn. If it's damaging anything it's too extended. Do not forget to remove the bar before you extend the slide! You will wreck the fascia or the wall. I'm an RV mechanic, I'll tell you right now that fixing a fascia is easy, we had a guy who's slide did end up slightly popping out in travel though. That was in no way an easy fix, we had to replace the entire slide room out of pocket for him. Opposing Slides Lock BarsI have a 2007 Holiday Rambler 40' with large opposing slides in living area and kitchen. It is equipped with lock bars in the front area. Are they necessary? When secured tightly they are causing the decorative frame and seals to start separating from the wood veneer. When we tried to loosen tension one of them fell and almost hit me in the head. Our mechanic says they are not necessary and slide rooms will not deploy when traveling. Need some advice from folks that have similar MH configuration.Re: Fire Hazard Appliance Recalls UPDATED NORCOLD INFO 11-20-2010Dealer located problem..refrigerator and inverter wiring was reversed. They wired correctly and Norcold has been working great ever since except for one minor problem on second trip out! The burner was fouled and needed to be cleaned so I got "No FL" message. Thank goodness for mechanic friend who met us halfway into Ga to Fl trip and corrected problem.Re: Fire Hazard Appliance Recalls UPDATED NORCOLD INFO 11-20-2010 RayChez wrote: RamonaJ wrote: I recently purchased a 2007 Ambassador and took it out for first time this past weekend. The Norcold refigerator kept shutting down and blowing the breaker at the park when on AC. It did work fine on LP. Another camper advised me my unit might be included in recall. It was and Norcold advised me the fix had been performed on my unit. Will be returning motor home to dealer for fix but would like some ideas from other ref. owners on permanent fix. If the cooling unit had sprung a leak, it would not work with either propane or AC. So your problem would not be what the recalls were all about. Sounds to me like you have some electrical problem that is over loading the circuit. It could even be a bad circuit breaker.
