We are looking for a new trailer and having a hard time finding what we want. The Genesis comes the closest but once I looked at cargo capacity I'd be really close if not over, and that is only a small RZR and dirt bike. We boondocks 90% of the time so definitely will push cargo capacity. My big question was why 7000 lb axels but then limit cargo capacity to 14K when you will have almost 3K riding on the truck. I get they have CYA allowance and they under build these trailers. I really wonder how many people are hauling big 4 seaters in this trailer and are way over weight? It's a shame how all the manufacturers do this. Math isn't mathing Looking at a Genesis Supreme 281KS FW toyhauler. The stated GVWR is 14,000. The hitch weight is 2,610. It has 2 7,000 lb axles. Dry weight is 10,820 which leaves 3,180 cargo capacity. Throw in 160 gallons of water 1,335 lbs, 40 gallons of gas 243 lbs and you are down to 1,602 cargo. Which might be enough to cover all my "stuff" our 50 inch RZR trail and dirt bike. And I'm aware I don't have to top off all the tanks. My question with all of this is, the axles alone can carry the total GVW, why isn’t the hitch weight accounted for? Giving you more cargo capacity? Re: Cummins/ Achates DieselIf the technology proves good why wouldn't they build a smaller more practical version for the consumer truck market?Re: 35gal fuel station only takes 26galWhen I owned my Attitude I was told the fuel station would only pump until there was 6 gallons left in the tank, reserving that for generator only. I wonder if since your generator quit also maybe the generator fuel pickup is pulled higher into the tank and not reaching your last 6-10 gallons.Re: How young to take children??We took our son camping at 2 months old. And that was when we had a tent. And that wasn't even in a campground, we were boondocking in a natinal forest!Re: How long do you keep your Toy Haulers?Bought my first toy hauler in June 2008. Had it until October 2016 when it was totaled in an accident. Although I had been window shopping for quite some time not sure when or if I would have pulled the triger on a new one.Re: The new ST tires. Fact or fiction (marketing) coolbreeze01 wrote: While Government testing can be helpful finding defects, the end user is the real tester. Fatal flaws in automobiles, airliners, and tires are just a few examples. Not every tire that comes of the line is put through the testing. They build an original "prototype" that is tested, and what is really being tested is the design and manufacturing process. What they expect is that their manufacturing process is good enough to consistantly produce the same results as the "ptototype" achieved. With that being said and knowing that if somethng can go wrong it will go wrong, not every tire that comes of the line is perfect and yes there will be failures. As consumers we just have to hope that the manufacturing process and controls at the factory are good enough that those failure are few.Re: What do these letters mean? All manufactures are differnet, so sometime it is hard to tell what they mean. Here are two examples from trailer I've owned. Attitude 23LFS - L=Light, FS=Front Sleeping. The trailer was also available with "Gel" exterior walls Which was LFSG. Sandstorm 286GSLR - G="Gel" sides, S=Slide, and I believe the LR tells where the slide is located, living room. Your question about "FBS? It a dinette slide out on the side.. Shouldn't that be SDS???" I'd say FB is either Front Bed or Front Bath. The S would be for slide. Just because it is FBS does not mean the slide is in the front bed/bath, just that there is a slide in the trailer. If my quess about my sandstorm is correct the letters after the "S" would tell you where the slide is located. The letters before tell you other things about trailer layout/options. But then again this is only my guessRe: How long is to long? 2BLAZERS wrote: 35' bumper pull toyhauler (Stealth WA2916) That is the exact trailer I am consideringHow long is to long?I refer to myself as a backwoods camper, I like to camp off the beaten path. I currently own a 23ft bumper pull toy hauler but am looking to upgrade, but I have this fear of long trailers and getting into places I like to go. I found 2 trailer I like, one is bumper pull at 35ft and one is FW at 32 feet. Is my fear of length warranted or am I worrying for nothing? Will the ten feet make a whole lot of difference? When it comes to length and narrow roads and tight spaces which is better, FW or bumper pull?
