I was following a work truck when a 6 inch square steel plate that was probably 1/2" thick fell off the back of it. It hit the road on a corner and started spinning like a ninja star toward the front of my truck. So fast there really was no time to react but luckily the last bounce it did only put it even with the bumper. It knocked a hole in the bumper and tore off the Toyota emblem above that on the radiator grill then fell off under the truck. Had it been at the point of the bounce where it was two feet higher it would have gone through the windshield. Guy driving the work truck kept on going, probably never knew one of the 50 plates he had unsecured had fallen off.Re: Are all TC roofs this thin? Our roof is 1/2" marine plywood (7 ply) with 0.040 aluminum sheet over that and 1/8" of truck bed liner over that. Still pretty thin when you think about it though?Re: It only takes a second....Blaming a person for an accident because they were only traveling the speed limit is sort of like blaming a girl for getting raped because she is pretty.Re: First time for everything Kayteg1 wrote: Not likely they have nest in the caper. Track the army to the underground nest and kill them there. In lack of poison- few drops of gasoline does the trick. Than inside the oldfashion ant sticks still seems unbeatable. The truth is that they would never go inside the camper if you'd clean all the food stains. ' That is rather like saying you never would get the flu if you would just stop touching/breathing in viruses.Re: It only takes a second....I can't even go the speed limit in a lot of places because our rig just doesn't have enough HP to get the 19,000 pounds and sailboat up steep hills. If there is a truck lane I am in it. If there is a turnout I use it. I am sure I still piss people off because there are places where the state or county just doesn't think they need turnouts or passing lanes. I have never made a line of cars follow us more than a mile or so though before I find some shoulder or something to pull over. That being said, we were traveling in our new F150 in fairly heavy traffic and were at least 4 cars back from a slow leader car. The guy behind me doesn't pass us during an opening...no, he goes at 70mph past all five of us on the shoulder, with two tires in the grass. I had never wished so hard for LEO to be around. He would have killed a pedestrian, cyclist or anyone who happened to be pulled off with an emergency. Moral of the story, people are impatient ********. Always have been, always will be.Re: Most Expensive Camp Site Ever Boatycall wrote: Kayteg1 wrote: Would you break down 100 miles from the city, get it towed for $260 and go for coffee, would you call it $260 coffee? Clearly you haven't been to Starbucks lately.... :B Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering why he didn't say "Would you call it $270 coffee?"Re: Boat launching with TC?We launch our 17 foot sailboat with a lead keel and 21 foot mast using our 27 foot long RV/truck camper! 19,000 pounds on the boat ramp, 20+ launches and no problems. It doesn't even have a lot of hp (210 on a 4cyl engine)Re: If the thread that you are reading is missing pictures ...Wrecked my flatbed camper build thread too. Is Photobucket publicly traded? We could make a lot of money shorting it tomorrow! This is beyond stupid. They will lose 99% of their base.Re: Western Montana fishing and NF campground reccomendations?Try Dunn Creek Campground and boat launch near Libby. It is a free place to camp right on the river. No facilities except pit toilets but they have quite a bit of room. We stayed there about a week and only had one or two other campers. Here are some pics from when we were there last year: Re: Travel advice - quick cross country tripSteve, I just saw this thread! You are coming to our home state. If you want a great place to chill for a day along I-90 just outside of Spokane, try the Fishtrap BLM area. I think it is about 7000 acres and has some small ponds, hiking trails, pretty fun motorcycling. It is free and just a couple miles off the highway about an hour west of Spokane. It does sound like you are doing a fast trip though. Sort of like trying to see the UK in 3 days like we did. Yep, there is that rock ring thing, oh there is an old castle....oops time to go.
