All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: WinterizationThanks for the additional replies. I have my RV uncovered now based on advice given. No power outlets readily available, so I need to determine a solution for the house batteries. Even with the disconnect, I know they won’t last through the winter. Any thoughts regarding complete removal vs. running the generator to keep them charged?Re: WinterizationThanks for the replies. Are all in agreement that covering is not necessary in the wintertime? Also, has anyone had experience with spraying the ground with ammonia around the perimeter to keep mice away?WinterizationThis is our first year storing a Class A for the winter. Previously, with towables (and inexpensive used ones, at that), I just protected the plumbing and not much else. Now, with a brand new Class A, I'd like to be more thorough. We're storing outdoors in the cold and snowy midwest, so I bought a cover. Looking for opinions from others on: 1. Relieving weight from tires 2. Periodically exercising the drivetrain 3. House battery disconnection vs. maintenance charging 4. This was a big factor in our decision - my wife has never felt comfortable pulling a trailer of any kind. But she test drove the MH and handled it like a champ.Re: Trading in a Fifth Wheel for a Class AWell, we pulled the trigger on a 2018 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 36U. Working on financing now. If all goes as planned, we’ll drive it home next week.Re: Trading in a Fifth Wheel for a Class A RickLIght wrote: Thank you to all! This is a great thread and fits the discussions we are having right now. We've had a small C and a tent trailer. We're now working part time leading to retiring and want to month-plus trips. Maybe go for the National Park set. We just rented a 30' gas A for a week to try it out. The rental was so noisy and rocking that we almost abandoned As in favor of 5vrs. I wish we could rent a 5ver. Please keep info coming! Thanks, Rick. We are close to a deal. Details to follow.6kW GeneratorWith two air conditioners and an Onan 6000 generator, does everyone typically run both A/C units simultaneously without issues?Re: Trading in a Fifth Wheel for a Class AWe're closing in on a decision (I think). Might actually go for a new (!) 36-ft DP. Trying to make the numbers work.Re: National Park Camping 2gypsies wrote: With our 40' motorhome towing a Jeep we fit in: Glacier Nat'l Park - Apgar campground Yellowstone's Mammoth, Madison and Bridge Bay campgrounds Grand Teton - Gros Ventre and Colter Bay campgrounds Bryce - North campground Zion - Watchman campground Grand Canyon North Rim Grand Canyon South Rim - Trailer Village Rocky Mountain - Moraine campground Big Bend - Rio Grande Village campground Denali - Teklanika and Riley Creek campgrounds etc., etc.... We've fit in many, many national forest campgrounds, state parks, Corp of Engineers, county and city parks. Get the RV that you'll be happy traveling/living in. There are plenty of parks you will fit. I will also add...… we didn't have reservations for any of the above except Denali's Teklanika. Exactly the kind of information I needed. Do not show up Friday as there will be a 25’ rig in a site big enough for 45’ BUT on Monday you can take your pick. I made the mistake of starting at 36’ because of posts on here...went to 40’ and 42 for 14 years and recently 45’. Buy more MH than you think you need...ONE TIME. We shoehorned a 35' 5ver into a 30' campsite in a trip to Acadia NP last week. Sounds like you've done the same with some regularity. Is it commonly permitted to do this sort of thing?
